I have been searching Lowes and I do not see anything about part-time. I have M-F 4 till ? and Saturdays and Sundays. I worked in appliances at Sears for about 5 years. Finally got tired of the 100% commission and eager(unethical) employees there.
Anybody got any ideas? Thanks!

I don't know what you mean by not seeing anything about pt at lowes. We do have pt. during the busy time of the year. pt are usually scheduled 30 to 35 hours. as business slows, you can go down to ten hours a week. Probably half the people at my store are part time.

Most of the time it depends on the store. If it is a big store than you'd be expected to work the larger amount of hours! If you just apply and they find that your hours will work for them, they will hire you. All you gotta do is just apply!

Lowe's usually will not post up part time positions.
Just for in store applicants, all they have really is full time positions.
That doesn't mean PT positions aren't available, contact your local store to find out about openings.

I also worked at Sears and now work at Lowes, part time, in the appliance department. When I applied for the job, I said I would work in any department but that I had experience selling appliances.
I can tell you that there are usually not many jobs open in the appliance department at Lowes. But there are lots of part time jobs open and the wages are much better than Sears. In my store, I don't know of anyone who makes less than the folks at Sears.
One thing I will tell you, though is that Lowes doesn't treat their part timers as well as the full timers. I work very close to full time hours and am expected to do the same work as any full time employee in my department, yet I have no access to email. They have what they call a communications binder but at my store it is never updated. This makes it hard for me to know about promotions, recalls and new policies. I also am only allowed to take 20 hours of vacation in any given week, even though I earn only one week vacation and have accumulated 30 hours. If I don't work less than 20 hours, I can't even collect any vacation hours. I expect this year to lose 10 of my vacation hours, just like last year because they will not pay me for the additional ten unless I take a full week off and I don't want to do that.

You need to get with HR. Although I don't know why you waited til lthe end of the year to figure vacation out.

This doesn't sound right...even if you worked 8 hours a week gradually you should still earn vacation time. Sure they didn't put you down as seasonal?

Last year they let me take 30 hours at once, so I thought it would be the same this year. I went on my vacation and had put in a request that would have used up all my vacation time. I went to HR and they insisted that all part timers only can take 20 hours in a week, no matter how many hours they worked. I called corp. HR six times, starting in November and have yet to get a call back. Finally, I went to the ops manager and he told me that yes, I could only take 20 hours in a week but that he would fix it so I could get the rest of my vacation in another week.
