Inventory shorts us on our paychecks. At least for us, we don't work the full 7.5hrs. We have to clock out for meals(which is totally unfair, because we are locked in the store ON OUR TIME!!) At least the cheap asses could pay us for our meal breaks, give us time and 1/2 or something extra.

Bell,
There's no way they can lock you in your store...even for inventory...can't you exit through the employee entrance...I've never heard of this happening, and it's probably illegal.

We are not allowed to go anywhere. Supposedly the building alarms are on and cannot go outside. I've never heard of such BS in my entire life.

Speaking of the CA Class Action Lawsuit, did you mail yours in! I got my second postcard after I mailed mine two weeks ago telling me to join in. I mailed that one in too!

I originally mailed my card in the same day I received it! I don't care if it's $1, it's principle.

Federal Law requires them to give you X number of hours paid and unpaid rest/breaks when you work X number of hours like it or not on either party. Violation of this is illegal and could land you SM or AHSM (ASS HOLE STORE MANAGER) in serious trouble with both Macy's and the Federal government. YES - if you are scheduled to work, it is my understanding that they can lock you in, provided you are on the clock or on paid/unpaid break. We had an incident similar to this at Lowe's. An employee was locked in the store after hours and his SM refused to let him out once his shift had ended. He returned the favor by calling the local police department and telling them that he was being held hostage. The police came and verified the mans schedule and told the MOD to let him go or go to jail. Next day he came in and was summoned to the SM office and terminated. He called Employee Relations and the SM was fired for wrongful termination.

They can lock you in if you are scheduled but they are still required by law to give you breaks.

I fully understand the breaks/lunch times. Isn't that what the huge lawsuit is about? I'm talking about clocking out for our LUNCH break (during inventory)and forced to stay in the building.

Belldoll, I am not trying to argue, I believe personally that the decent thing to do is to let you out or to provide a meal of some sort for the employees. The least they can do is to tap Petty Cash and purchase your store a bunch food of some kind.

They usually provide a meal, but it's only 1 night and with all the persons working inventory there's never enough to go around.

security BLOCKED THE DOOR !!! YEP, YOU READ THAT RIGHT. THEY THINK THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT. this is new york state, by the way. if it was me, i would have called the cops. (yeh, i really would have).

They have the store on lock down from 12 am- 3am or 5am. correct me if I am wrong. I believe they do this because the are security in the store or for safety reason.

P.S. I ask my GSM if we was going to open at 2 pm on inventory like mlb said, and my GSm said that is true.
