On Black Friday, a customer told two of us that we were stupid because we didn't know our stock, didn't give her good customer service, and wanted us to tell her what other Macy's carried what she wanted. (I'll pull that information out of my ***)
I wanted to explain to her that the stock comes in and rotates so fast, we can't keep track of everything. (besides our department is spread all over the flippin second floor). She kept on nagging at us, I turned around and walked away from her and didn't look back.

I'm sure there's more to come. One Day Sale today.

Aren't there going to be like 100 more One Day Sales between now and Christmas?

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! Today's ODS customers were WAY worse than the Black Friday customers. They were crazy! I don't even want to go back tomorrow.
And once again, clothes all over the floor!

I'm afraid this year's customers will get downright MEAN before Christmas. Two reasons:

1. It's really pissing people off that they can't spend as much this season as they did last year and they want to take it out on somebody or something. They're indecisive and ANGRY.

2. Tempers will erupt because everyone's trying to buy the same types of no-nonsense gifts -- basic items like slippers and blankets and sweaters and socks -- and there'll be a lot of items that either run out of certain sizes, or run out of stock entirely. There will be blood.

I've been on the receiving end of the ugliness already.

Well, Macy's isn't helping the situation by offering 100 different coupons during the ODS! They get really mad when you tell them that the item is a "special" and specials are excluded. It was much better when ODS's were "black out" days for coupons. I was yelled at so many times yesterday, and I know there's more coming today!

Now the big thing for us is pre-sale with Friends and Family (another coupon), plus Thanks 4 Sharing, plus open credits, $$$ off coupons, choose your own day.
"Will this work now?" and they show me the $10 off coupon for ODS at 5pm. Evil or Very Mad

Aaaack pre-sales! I hate the fact that the sale toppers have to say Reserve and the sign says sale. Nobody reads those damn toppers anyway so what is the point of doing pre-sales?

I nearly lost it over the coupon thing today.

I had customer after customer reach into his or her pocket and/or wallet and pull out a freakin' STACK of coupons and drop the whole pile on the counter, asking me to pick the best one for them. This was not unusual; however, so many people came with their "until 1PM" coupons that I said I'd try to use them to see what would happen. When I left around 3PM the darned things were still being accepted.

Between the beauty bonus cards, the savings passes, the percent off coupons, the dollar off coupons, the pre-sale for FAF, ad nauseum...

These people can't read. PERIOD. Our ODS $10 off were working all day, but we had a sign saying that the morning specials were up til 3. When customers presented coupons after 5 pm, I pointed to the sign. I knew the coupons worked all day, I just know that they are too stupid to figure it out!

I've had these type of customers for the last few days. Everytime they pull out their zip-lock freezer bag full of every coupon for Macy's and all the other stores in the mall, I think of this response and laugh.

Now THAT'S the holiday spirit!!! Evil or Very Mad

Ooooooh... I thought I was gonna see a major beat down today.

A customer and her posse of what appeared to be homeless pole-dancers approached my co-worker today with a pair of hoochie-girl boots, asking for a size five.

(You know where this is going, right?)

We told her that we didn't have a size five, only a few left in six, eight, and nine.

So of course, she asked for a size five-and-a-half.

No five-and-a-half.

BUT IT SAYS FIVE RIGHT HERE ON THIS TAG, she shouted. (Yes, shouted.)

Classy.

My co-worker and I looked at each other in disbelief. Three other customers in the area stopped browsing and looked up.

My co-worker gently wrenched the boot from the customer's tiny clawed hand and politely said, "This ticket says that we sell sizes five through eleven in this style. However, we've sold out of many sizes and have only a few remaining, as I've said."

She turned the boot over, pointed to the size tag inside, and continued. "This is a size six."

The customer was not satisfied and said that a six was what she wanted in the first place.

HUH???

But she wanted one IN A BOX, not the one from the floor.

Um... Okay, yeah. Like how she wants someone in juniors to get her a pristine pair of Guess jeans from the stock room and not one that's been tainted by the touch of human hands on the selling floor. (How does she buy swimwear?)

Anyway, my co-worker finds that there's only one six left -- the display pair -- and brings the box out to her... and the customer looks like she's been handed an overripe tomato in a leaky plastic bag.

She looks at her two friends blankly. The three of them look at my co-worker blankly. They look at me blankly.

My co-worker and I look at each other and then back at them with a gaze that says you can buy the boots or you can not buy the boots. Whatever. Just go away. Quietly. And come back when you've learned some manners.

But she buys the boots anyway. With a coupon.

What is with some people???
