I am applying for a night stock job at a local Lowe's store and was interested in what the starting pay is.

The schedule I would have is 9p-5a and weekends off (with the exception of the 12-5 on Saturday)

Any information would be appericated.

The pay range depends on your area. The new guys on the stocking crew made about $10/hour. Then again the cashiers started at $900 there too.

Night stocking starts out about $9 at our store, but this store has no local competitors, so wages are lower. Raises are next to nothing. Some night stockers with 5 years service make less than new hires. Lowes is a sick, sorry company to work for. There is better money in working day shift . That is where I am at.

I'd make up some rates and mension them...there's not a snowballs chance in hell they'll call up a competitor and ask for a rate

Like skibunny said, the pay scale depends on your area. Do some homework online and see what "stockers" are making in your area. Then go from there. I wouldn't just pull some figure out of the blue because if it's off the wall, they'll laugh and tell you they'll get back with you. And never will.

Bulldozer: Data for hourly pay scales for various positions is out there on the web. Start googling stuff and you shouldn't have any trouble finding what you're looking for. Start with the US Dept. of Labor website (www.dol.gov) and go from there.

If you were in my store, a new hire as reciever/stocker w/no experience would likely be offered between $8.25-$8.70 to start. With experience you could probably ask for $9-$9.25. Pay scale at my store is middle-of-the-road compared to other stores nationally. I work in a high volume store in an area where the cost of living is low. However, cost of living doesnt seem to enter their equation I dont think...
