Our store only made budget in the installed sales department for the year. So of course in the wisdom of the powers that be...eliminate the installed sales department manager position. What a joke. How about getting rid of one of the commercial sales specialist positions. These guys do not make the calls nor do they go outside of the store (encouraged in my store) to try to increase business. What is going on?

If your store's CS guys are not making calls and not going out into the field to solicit business, then that's the fault of your sales manager. And if it stays that way, the DM is going to go ballistic. They are supposed to be making a minimum number of calls each day once the new call list drops each month.

Yes, I know this to be the case. The sales manager has been riding these guys to get off their lazy butts and do the work. I know that one was written up for not following the cs protocol. I guess the sales manager is working on getting rid of the waste of payroll in that department.

If you guys copped the big 3 for the year, congratulations because there are probably only a handful of stores that did that!

The word is "comped" not copped. Not being a jerk here but helping you so that if you are using the wrong term at your store you don't look like you don't know what you're talking about.

Uhhhh, excuse me but I know all about store COMPS. The word I used was COPPED and that's exactly the word I wanted to use considering what the poster was referring to. Store COMPS are generally used in a day-day comparison of sales figures from one year to another. The poster was referring to the fact that his/her store made the budget on the BIG 3 in their store. Hence, they COPPED the big 3.

Not being a jerk here but suggest you may want to look up what the word COPPED means and how it is sometimes used in contemporary speech.

Point taken. Without inflection in the written words online sometimes things don't come out the same. I, too know the word you used. I however have observed people online using the wrong terminology. Sometimes it is a regional type of thing. My intent was honestly not to belittle you in any manner. Just wanted to help out if you needed. I'm sorry if I offended you in any manner.

*pet peeve* people saying or writing "prolly" instead of "probably". Just wondering when that became ok? Any insight?

No offense taken skibunny, and sorry if I came across as too severe in my comments. My apologies. Also, I agree with you on "prolly." Prolly (lol) started by someone who was getting charged by the LETTER in text messaging, instead of the entire message!

as a specialist, my budgets have made me from nothing to as much as $493. each time WE, as a department, have made over $200 bonus, I've tried to give a little back to my TL. I know that it is not alot but since he makes more per hour than I it is what it is, a token of appreciation for the team(although my team hates the other specialist).
