I just wanted to take the time to mention an incident that occurred to me recently. When I moved to Georgia last year from Tennessee I had a Sprint cell phone. I had been with Sprint for 5 years and enjoyed their service, but it just didn't work at my house. It worked in my living room but not in my dining room. I had decided to go to AT&T, but at my families wish, I opened an account with Verizon and left with a new ENV2.

I had 4 of these phones in less than 8 months. To me a new cell phone every 2 months is not within the realm of things and I believe that it should have triggered something to Verizon to replace the phone.

I called Verizon customer service and asked them to replace the phone with a Blackberry. The rep came back and offered me a 1 year contract - but the phone was priced way out of my means. I asked for a 2 year contract and they refused. The Verizon supervisor finally told me that he couldn't even offer me the 1 year contract. I proceeded to tell the supervisor that AT&T would love to have my business and the price of the phone I wanted with them and Verizon's early termination fee was less than what he had to offer. He then implied that I should do that, I would pay royally for leaving, and that my business was not worth it to him. I drove across the street to AT&T and left with a new IPhone. What's funny is my bill is less at AT&T then it would have been Verizon.

I now have a Mercedes of a phone and AT&T has thus far gonbe out of their way to make me happy and provide me with excellent service! I haven't had a dropped call with them yet either. Can't say the same for Verizon.

It seems to me that in this economy you would do what ever it took to keep a customer, especially when they were willing to lock themselves into a new contract!

I just wanted to tell everyone what happened. Hopefully this will help somebody else out!

I can't imagine those commissioned cell phone representatives doing well in this economy. My phone is pretty fancy but I've had it over a year (that's a millenium compared to other people my age) and it has its quirks and needs to be reset once in a while but I really can't afford to buy a phone every few months like some people. But as far as that kind of service, I am shocked that they literally could give a rat's ass less about your business. I'm surprised we haven't heard of a lot of financial troubles by these cell phone companies. I know of some friends who had their cell phones turned off to save money.

This is old, but it's funny. And sad. And infuriating.

What's funniest is that I have yet to hear anyone from Verizon publicly comment on the incident.

I've had Verizon since it was Air-Touch and before that Pacific Bell Wireless (1993). I've never had trouble with them. In fact they've gone out of their way to please me. I subscribe to a broadband account for my laptop and that plan is not even offered to other customers. My new ever two comes up on March 14.

I used to work for AT&T and once tried their wireless. I got no bars here at my house. What's the point of a backup phone if I don't get reception? My brother lives with me, he has AT&T (discount through his employment), and his calls drop constantly.

Besides we get a 20% discount thru Macy's for Verizon.

Bell, remember when Macy's first started selling Sprint phones and they offered employees service for $9.99/month? That didn't last long. Then they changed it to a 20% discount.

Anyway, I want an iphone soooo much!

I've only been employed by Macy's for a little over four years. We've got a iPod vending maching kiosk in the store.

I'm thinking about the Blackberry Storm. Any opinions?

I would get one if I didn't have my contract with T-Mobile. I have a BlackBerry that was my old phone before I got my current phone. They're solid phones, and I've always liked touch screens.

The Storm is what I was hoping they would upgrade me to. My cousin has one and he has had to have it replaced it once. He says his only gripe is that it is easy to press the mute key and mute your conversations.

MAYcylady - I LOVE my Iphone! I don't know how I did without it!

Don't rub it in! I so much want one. How much is your monthly bill? I might have to break down and buy one. I wanted one when they fist came out, but I'm so glad that I didn't buy one then, since they are cheaper now.

Monthly is 79.99. I get a discount on top of that from being a state employee. Either way that includes 450 Minutes, Unlimited Data - Web and Email/Downloads Etc., and Unlimited Text Messaging. There are cheaper text plans though, but I send more a month than their next lowest.

Guess how many text messages I send every month??? Oh yeah, ZERO!!!
$79.99 is way too much for me. What's the cheapest plan? I don't mind spending the $$$ for the iphone, but it's the service that I don't want to pay for.

Basic plan starts at 69.99 + all the fee's. But it is so cool being able to check your email in traffic or surf the internet! Not to mention the luxury of the iPhone, allows you a wonderful leaning experience.

Ahhhhh....I can only imagine leaning in luxury...
$69.99 is way too much for me! I already pay for 2 cell phones (about to be 3 when my son gets one!) cable, and wireless internet.
I got really fed up with my Alltell bill b/c of all of the crap that they add to it for taxes, fees, & whatever else they could come up with.
I'm looking for some sort of bundle where you get your cable, wireless internet, cell, and landline all for one price.
It would be very nice to check email from my iphone. I might give in and get one, idk. We'll see.

See if you have AT&T uverse in your area. You can bundle everything and it is new so they are giving great prices. It is fiber optics or something like that.

I have sprint, and been with them since I was 18 years. That is 5 years now and I love them. I never get drop calls and they take care of me pretty well. Because I was with sprint for 2 years they decided to give me an extra 10% off my bill if I renew me 2 year contract with them and I did. I then started at macys a year later, and was also getting macys 18% off for sprint. That mean I was getting about 28% altogether (10% +18%=28%). A year after I was getting the 28% discount, Sprint cut my 10% off they gave me saying that discount was only good for 2 years. I was now getting only macys 18%. I had a $30 plan.(200 mins, night starting a 7pm). I was pist at sprint after they refuse to give me the extra 10% off. I spoke to a manager. He was so helpful. I told him I was thinking about leaving spring becouse of this. So you know they lost over 4.5 million customers over the years. He told me he was going to lower my bill to $10 and give me more mins plus I get macys 18% discount. I will never ever leave sprint. I have the best plan known to man. My plan is $10 and I get "240 mins, nights starting at 7pm, weekend free, and the 1st incoming min free." With fees and my discount I only pay about $11 per month. They did not want to lose me. I have been with them 5 years, and they are the only cell phone company I ever used. Rock on!

By the way the verizon discount is 17% and sprint is 18%

Sprint is the best?

I had Spring for 5 years myself. Never had any major issues that they did not resolve. The worst was a mix up that wasn't my fault or Sprint's fault - but I learned never to buy a cell phone at Stupid-Mart, I mean Wal-Mart again. Then I moved to the rural Atlanta area. I live past the middle of no where and it takes 20 minutes to find civilization. My Sprint phone worked in my living room, but not my bedroom. One day I tested it and it worked in my bathroom if I stood in the shower, but not in front of the sink or toilet. Thats why I left Sprint.

My union has negotiated contracts with Sprint and Verizon. However, since I am a state employee I receive a state discount at AT&T . I have so far loved AT&T and don't regret increasing my bill! However Sprintisthebest, I mean Money, remember you live in or near NYC and are more than likely going to have the best cell phone reception in the world. As for a $10 plan? Ummmm...

Trust me I was shocked myself. I thought he was going to lower my bill by $10 like instead of $30 it was $20, but to give me a better plan for only $10 that was crazy. I even called a second time to ask how much my bill was going to be and they told me $10. I still did not believe it, I had to actaul see my bill to believe it. My bill is about $8 with the macys discount plus tax and fee only about $11. This is the best thing to happen to me from sprint. I even told people from my macys, and they thought I was pulling there legs until I showed them my bill. This was the talk of my floor. I still can't believe it sometimes. Usually nights starting at 7 pm will cost an extra $5, but because my old plan I had nights starting at 7pm for free, they gave it to me.

Random? I thought that we were talking about wireless companies. I have had Fall for five years, but I am thinking of changing over to Spring. I hope they can give me a $10.00 plan like Money. Fall is charging me $10.99.
