I do not believe Lowes would hire such people, even as low as Lowes is unless there is a distinct possiblity of Union organizational activity going on at a store or other location.. Then they may hire such people in the event of an active Union organizational movement at one of their stores. Labor spies, Lowes calls them management and company minded employees. They will use management and anti-union worker to discourage a call for a Union vote. Lowes is anti-Union because they want absolute control and do not want to answer or be held accountable to anybody. Just like any other service block company. Good luck on any Union organizing effort.

Any company is going to not want a union mostly due to the power. Obviously management wouldn't want a union.

Having said that most employees aren't management...heck most arent' even full time. I don't know that many retailers that are union (some of macy's...some of costco)

having the company involved in hiring people that lean a certain way would actually cost them money. Now technically I wouldn't be surprised if say they plant some people that really work for corporate into stores to report as to how things really are...this might scare the sm's but too bad.

I don't know about Labor Spies per say but at Sears I always heard a rumor that frequently they'll send corporate employees out as an off the street hire or transfer at your store just to see what's going on in the store period :management, employees, conditions etc . Also keep in mind that these companies like to use mystery or secret shoppers but their focus is on customer service .

I know the word ' union ' triggers a negative response right off the bat so I wouldn't rule it out . But in tight times I don't think they would go the extra mile unless they'
re really close to a union .

hey all. just putting my 2 cents in. macy's has maybe 5 stores that are union.
Herald square in new york and a few in california, mostly san fransisco are i believe.
i would LOVE it if macy's had to go union for some of their stores, but i don't see it ever happening.

We've been down to only a handful of part-timers for some time now, maybe just like 5 or 6. Don't know whether the other stores in the District are like that but my guess would be they are.
