????
Do you mean this thing
http://tinyurl.com/dcpm3r
Lowes won't merge with walmart because there's nothing to gain from it. There's some overlapping product line. What would the objective be then? Walmart is doing OK but would gain nothing with lowes as the housing market is getting worse.
some might say the logos look similar or colors but red white and blue are the colors of the usa, uk, france and russian flags... all 4 are totally different governments and structures of government.
most of lowes is owned by capital management...it's enough to do a fair amount of things.

the only thing that came close to this was long ago kmart owned a company called home base...but it's hard to really say what the point is.
sometimes there can be a company that tries to do too much (cough sears cough)

In this world, almost anything is possible. A Wal-Mart and Lowes merger may not sound feasible, but anything could happen. The two stores do have some overlapping in product lines. Lowes is now selling toilet paper and soft drinks ( a move most thought would never happen). That is a move in the "Wal-mart" direction. Remember, Wal-Mart started out with the philosophy of having everything under one roof. Thus, the customer would have to travel no further that "Wally-world" for their home needs. And Wal-Mart is very large as compared to Lowes. As for employee having a say in such a merger (stockholders), employees do not go to shareholder meetings. But they could combine their voting power and by proxy, have a representative to voice say in such a matter. But that would require the uniting of a large block of Lowes employees, something that would be a very remote possibility. An action would be on the scale of Lowes employees voting for a Union for example. This is why companies like employee stock distribution. Employees do have a large block of stock collectively, but they never unite as one to exercise that power it would have as such block. And all companies know that. Just some opinion and food for thought.

True anything is possible but there'd be a difference as to how organized the place would turn out. For example if a buyout ever happened would it mean that every lowes would become a walmart and vice versa or would it just be ownership and left alone?
There's some food places I see nearly next to each other that are owned by the same company. The product lines are different and I doubt they'd ever match prices. I can't see a merger to bring products into each other. Sears holdings owns kmart...some product lines go back and forth but for the most part it's a separate thing (owned by the same company)
I've heard of different types of walmarts something about some upscale one in Texas that sells far higher ended items. Walmart owns sam's club which is different items as well so the idea of spreading product lines would be hard to envision.
I think that if walmart were to try to make a move into home improvement I'd say they make make a jab at Menards. it's smaller (easier to manage) and private. They already sell some odd things there (food, pianos?) Without getting into details the heads of that company are weird
www.milwaukeemagazine.com/CurrentIssue/full_feature_story.asp?NewMessageID=13642 it could also be easier as there's only operations in the USA.
Odder things have happened..a supermarket chain near me owned a department store chain until they closed it. As long as housing keeps going down I'm sure walmart will wait until it hits a bottom. Why invest in something when it is going down in value?

It is a very, very old rumor readily accepted by many that Walmart owns Lowes.

I think Wal-Mart would get the short end of the stick although getting the bonuses the ALL the Walmart employees get would be nice.
