Move into home services

ATLANTA - Home Depot is banking on becoming the "handyman" for homeowners and professional builders, a role that will help open up a US$500-billion industry to the world's largest home improvement retailer.

I think the Building Trades unions really missed the boat in failing to go after Home Depot early and hard as an organizing target. I am sure all their installer services will be nonunion, just like the stores are.

R_D, it's not too difficult to miss the boat when you haven't a clue where the water is! Very Happy

From what I know, Bernie and Arthur were anti-union. One of the first things I learned (11 yrs ago) was that if a store was to vote Union -the very next day it would be shut down. This could have been a scare tactic, but it sure sent the message.

Are many of Home Depots "Departments" or Services simply bought out businesses to create the illusion of "doing it themselves" or "something they formed".If the customers actually realized what they were getting when it's installed by Home Depot or even Sears I think they would think twice about using them.
