After having a great year with Lowe's as a new DM, I got only a 2.5% pay raise. This is after getting top50 of the company for Hardware/Tools three times during the holdiayseason of 2008. Several letters of recommendation as well from ZM and SM. I am curious on how others faired within other stores?

You should be thankful you still have a job. Most companies are not giving any type of raises to their employees. I think that the way that Lowe's is doing blanket raises is giving a certain amount not percentage. Example, if you make $10/hour (I know it is probably more, but work with me here) and the other department managers are making $8/hour you get a .25 which is 2.5% and the others get .25 which is a 3.1% raise.

I hate to say it but it doesn't seem to matter what we do because our raises are just the same as those people in our stores not going the extra mile. I know I've had 10 CCIC's over the past year (not only in my department) on the good side! I mean customers either calling in or writing into corporate telling them how wonderful I am and how they are now loyal Lowe's customers because of me. Doesn't matter my counter-part received about the same amount of money for their raise that I did. I've also been a top salesperson in the district 75% of the year. Doesn't matter. I think HE got more because HE is a HE. But that is just my opinion.

I find it funny that my ex-team leader got a 4.5% pay raise, and the reason I know, I saw his evaulation.

So he probably is making a few dollars less than you are an hour. My counterpart received a 3.5% increase compared to my 2.5%. HE still makes less than I do but it makes me really mad that he gets a higher raise than I did. I contributed more and beat HIM in sales in every aspect. HE hasn't had one customer write in for him.

It is what it is. I'm thankful that I have a good job and that as a company we could afford to give our employees increases where other big box stores are not and are even laying people off.

Stores are given a budget (payroll) and in the budget is an amount allocated for pay increases, This money has to be divided among the associates. So, with that said they can dish it out any way they want.

I got about the same raise as you so don't feel bad, after the last two years of getting 6%, and 8%. I think its across the board due to the slowing economy. Our store is up over last year too.

Damn, 6% and 8% are almost unheard of, unless you get some sort of promotion.

I was recently at another store and talked to some of the "Go to" people. These people amazed me with their skills and tasking ability. Put it this way, the departments they run should be models for all Lowes stores. These people create worklist that use two pages! Serious, right down to ending the night with proper floor care. Thing is, they are able to motivate the associates that work for them and all of them love it. You talk to these associates and they honestly take pride in the job they do. Thats some serious kudo's to these department managers.

Anyway, I got to talking with them over lunch and the subject of raises came up. I was shocked to learn that both of them had received yearly raises in the past as low as .10 cents! Wow....I didnt know what to say. Most people I know who work this hard would have been long gone after what I would consider a slap in the face.

This has happened a number of times at my store ... 10, 12, 15 cents ... and yes .... it's indeed a slap in the face.
