ok, i just checked my paycheck and we DID get paid TIME AND A HALF FOR MEMORIAL DAY when you WORKED it.

oh, and i got that card in the mail about the Opting out thing...you know the 4 steps .... the open door policy ?

well, first of all, that open door thing is an out and out lie !! a co-worker went to HR to ask about something and she was told that THAT person was too busy to talk with her. ok. that went well, didn't it ??

i called the number at the bottom of the card we got in the mail and spoke with someone. i told her i had initially "opted out" and did i have to re do it each year?
she said NO. once you opt out you don't do it again. when they sent us all the info a year or so ago, she said that was the 2nd time (i told her i was a mayco employee.... i think the macy's people did theirs previously). anyway, we are still covered (that is , IF we ever wanted to sue macy's. heh. )

but she told me something i didn't know. i thought the (smart) people who opted out could only be helped by step #1 in the store and that was it. she said, NO. we are covered by steps #1, #2, #3. we are just not covered for step #4 - the arbitration step. so that is good to know. not that it would help us as no one can really be unbiased in our store. they (especially HR and scheduling mgr) stick right up with the store manager like friggin glue. who is gonna side with us ? another employee ??? not too many out there would. i'm just saying.

That's what I've been saying all along. We don't have anyone that stands up with us. That's why we NEED A UNION!! Someone that represents the worker!

CRAP! I accidentally paid you overtime? You will need to pay it back and with interest as soon as possible. Macy's retains a security interest in all payments sent to our associates. Please note if you don't pay it back our attorneys are authorized to come to your home and take any and all items that we feel will justify the amount of our loss and interest charged.

Don't laugh. That exact thing happened in our district not too long ago. I can't remember exactly but Macy's overpaid a BUNCH of people for a holiday or something and they all had to pay it back! It was a mess.

I'm sorry Lady, my teams didn't even make it that far, but being from Nashville originally I have a distaste for the Red Wings...

Though I admit, loosing the cup in your own arena.. Ouch.. That game should be played somewhere else, in between the two arenas. (Like Atlanta! Smile )
