Here's another question,so if we buy a gift for someone and say it's $80.00 and we use 40.00 macy money, now the someone returns it they only get 40.00 credit toward something else, what then happens to our 40.00 macy money, they"macys" gets it back and we us and whom ever we bought it for gets screwed...is that accurate???not to mention we look cheap when we know how hard we worked to get that macy money...seams unfair Doh!

I guess you're right, since the MM is applied as a coupon. I always tell customers to cut off the CRL if they don't want the recipient to know how much they paid!

You can still do it, you just hit "enter" when it asks for the CRL, which I think totally defeats the purpose of having them in the first place!
With clearance ringing up under $2.00, there are going to be a bunch of surprised gift recipients! I had a lady bring back a bracelet that she got for Christmas, but it rang up lowest price in 30 days, which was $2.00. She threw it on the floor behind the counter and left, not even getting her $2.00 store credit! I didn't even have time to explain to her that her friend MAY have spent more on the item, but this was the lowest price in 30 days!
All the time people bring stuff back to exchange, and find out through the CRL that the person that bought it didn't spend much. Hey, it's the thought that counts! So cut that return label off, and hope they don't try to return it!

Then there's no proof of purchase and the customer gets the lowest selling price. (but sometimes the price is actually higher than was originally purchase) With no crl/proof of purchase, the customer might get a MOC mailed to them or the register will ask for driver's license info, address, tel #, etc. (sometimes)

That's the whole point! Then they can't return it, or if they do return it, they won't know how much the purchaser paid.

in answer to the qustion above, YES, we DO GET SCREWED if something is returned that was bought with macy money. if i buy a $40 item and use $20 macy money, then return the item, i lose the macy money UNLESS I BUY SOMETHING ELSE/EXCHANGE IT....THEN a manager will take the MM off the new item so you don't lose it.

i realize i don't really lose money, cuz i really only paid $20 for the item, but the mm i worked hard to earn now is gone. that is something that makes my purchases HALF OFF then 20% off which is important to me.

as for the gift recipient finding out how much their gifter spent by scanning the crl ?? it's exactly the same as if they had a gift receipt.
like someone said above, without either of those , they most likely would get really screwed by getting almost nothing for it. Thumbs Up

Our store reissues the MM if you return the item so you don't lose out on your hard earned MM.

If you pay $2.99 for a Carter's baby outfit as a shower gift, (which is still a nice gift, even if it did only cost $2.99), then they are not going to get much less than that for it! At that price, it really doesn't matter, except to the recipient that now thinks you are a cheapskate! Smile

Hey................ you just gave me an idea! Maybe we can start up a little business of our own by selling our MM back to the employees who have lost their MM because of returns!!!!

not in our store. it is GONE unless you buy something/do an exchange at the time of the return. the manager will apply it to the new item. but if you just return the item, the MM is gone !!!

they also put a 6 mo. expiration date on our MM , which sucks big time. but the other macy's - 5 minutes from our store- does NOT date their MM.

see ??? SM's make up their own rules ALL THE TIME.

I know... I had one of my fellow team members help me count out the pile I've been collecting in my locker today.

Nearly 300 bucks worth. If I could ebay it, I would. It's no incentive for me.

I hate it, too.
