Just heard in my division, we are going from 20% for opening a new acct, to 15% the first of August. We have been at 20% for quite awhile in my area. In this economy I think we should stay at 20%. Or they can lower my credit goal!

Out west, our new account has been 15% for some time. Only on special days, we get the 20% (ODS, UYC, full moon, etc.)

our store has always been 15/10% and it changes to 20/15% for special sales. I agree, with this economy it only makes sense to keep it at 20% for as long as possible especially with the way they keep badgering and almost threatening us to get a million new accts daily. But, what do we know? We were told, at a morning meeting, that we shouldn't expect incentives, i.e. extra loyalty bucks, scratch-offs, when soliciting new accts, b/c it is our job and a big part of our scorecard.

Ok, fine. If we shouldn't expect incentives, then don't expect me to accept the fact that because a customer says the restrooms are filthy or have no paper towels and gives us less than OUTSTANDING that it should go against my review!! I'm not in charge of restrooms this week!

I totally agree with you fashion 101! Now that staffing is at a minimum especially housekeeping, which is a big fat ZERO, they expect US to pick up after the customers as long as we're going in there! ya, right!

I'm sorry, but that isn't anywhere in my job description that I clean sinks and toilets. Shit, I don't even care if a kid falls down the escalator; parents should babysit their kids, NOT ME!

Okay did I miss something here? How does a clean restroom have ANYTHING to do with your review?

I'm sure it will be the teeny-tiny box in the lower right corner of the review sheet:
Does Employee fulfill secondary duties as janitor? YES[] NO[]

Ex, Thats the point it has absolutely NOTHING to do with my review. My point is a customer might send in a bad CRL because they were upset about the restrooms. Bad CRL's affect points on our reviews, therefore affecting the total score we receive.

Last week my manager told us that we needed 3 new accounts per week. Now today she told us 4 per week. WTF!!! It's all because, supposedly, our store missed credit by almost 200. What do they think is going on with the economy? Do they even get a clue? I told her that I'm not about to drag the customers in the store and beat the crap out of them to open a credit. I ask everyone, but if they say, "No thanks, I don't want a Macy's" I leave it, but that's not good enough for my manager. She wants me to ask 3 times in three different ways. I know that in the past, customers get pissed when pushed.
So because of all this credit crap, I cannot leave my department for another. It's like fucking blackmail. She won't even approve my vacation day request without asking me if I opened any credits.
So what do you all think of this shit????

Our store manager at Lowe's tried to make us clean the bathrooms. I REFUSED! I would have walked out had he told me to do so and I wasn't ashamed to say it. I have nothing against housekeeping or custodians - but I wasn't a custodian. I wasn't paid to do it. It wasn't in my job description and I'll be damned if I was going to clean other peoples S^*% for $7.80 an hour. They can take their bathrooms and shove them up their A^%!
As snobby as this is going to sound - I already has 1 college degree and was less than 6 months from my second. I had more education than the SM ever would have had and I'm certainly not going to flush all that I had worked so hard for down the toilet to clean them in that store! Especially when you expected me to do it after the store closed and I should have been in the car on my way home!
Bell.... You Rock!

I don't use the restrooms at Macy's, I surely would never clean them! But they would never ask us to do that.

And now the bra/panty/hosiery/sock club is going away. That was always a great incentive to open an account.
