Tired old ground I know, but a interesting, albiet slightly dated, article I found with a 60 minutes piece I hadn't seen before.

http://arizona.typepad.com/blog/2009/01/phil-gramm-the-enron-loophole-and-oil-speculators-on-wall-street.html

Why is Gramm not at the same resort for the next 150 years with Madoff?

Good question. He's not only made a career of stealing from the public, he' still invited openly into the circles of most of his colleagues even to the point of serving as a financial advisor to a presidential candidate.

My guess is that his type of corruption and graft is just so common in DC these days that they look upon his thievery and graft as some kind of heroic accomplishment.

Don't forget... Ken Lay was "Ol Kenny Boy" to our last president.

Politics as usual. This is a good example of what probably goes on more often than not. It's not about the politics it is about THE FAVORS. It ain't about Democrat or Republican . It's not about conservative or liberal. It's about THE DEAL and a rigged one at that.

Things happen for a reason. There is no coincidence. It's not about ' well that's how things are done '. The FAVOR/back door deal ARE the politics/MO of the professional politician.
