|
|
|
When I went to check the commission rate on something today I saw something that puzzled me.
For all HA and HE divisions there was the regular list, but within the past few days there's a second option to click labled " Commision Rates Nov 09 Pilot". When I tried to click on it I couldn't get in, I assume because it hasn't been downloaded yet or my store isn't part of the "Pilot"
Does anyone have any idea what this pilot program is ?
A change of the compensation structure for commissioned sales ?
I'm SURE they're trying something that's going benefit us greatly.
Any idea what this "Pilot" is ?

Hrmm.... I'll check into it tomorrow.
I didn't think about looking at the commission sheets today. I was busy trying to decipher the latest nuclear bomb dropped by corporate about the Searscards in November. I'll definitely do some research.

There's currently an HE pilot going on but that's labeled as Aug. 09 pilot and only applies in division 3, 57 and 58...

This has been going on for a couple months now. Select markets (5 or 6 if I recall correctly) have had their commission lowered from 1% to 0.5% on select "entry level" TV's. This included many low end brands like Sylvania, Proscan, Element, and more. Surprisingly, entry level major manufacturers with models like the 40 inch Sony S5100 and the Samsung 40 inch B530 were on the list too. Most districts are not affected. Yet. Of course the pilot will be "successful" and they will eventually apply it company wide.

I've known about the HE commision pilot for awhile.
What I'm talking about is "Nov 09 Pilot" rates that are now showing for Divisions 22,26 and 46....Appliances.

I checked the links today, and most of them currently redirect to the general commission sheets. One pilot link led to a page that stated that the pilot rates were being released tomorrow (10/15).
My guess is that the HA pilot will follow the HE Pilot; move the customer up from the OPP models or face severe commission cuts. This move is likely to mirror holiday promotional sales that are already planned.

They're going to eliminate any commission amount that doesn't end in a .5 or .0... If the commission rate for an HA product is currently 2.5; nothing changes. If the commission rate is a 2.9; the commission rate will be raised to a 3.0; if the commission rate is a 2.8, the commission rate will drop to a 2.5. All items in HA will be either 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, or 3.0 or 3.5. The new commission rate will be determined by either rounding up or rounding down of the current commission rate. .9's get rounded up; .8 or below gets rounded down. This is only for HA - and is to help protect company margins, profitability, and increase incentives for the HA sales associates. I just read this today, so I may not have all of my facts straight, but that's the best I can remember off the top of my head. All HA associates are to be informed of these commission changes before they take effect on 11/1/2009. According to the information posted, approximately half of the items in HA will be going up in commissions and, of course, the other half will be going down: hypothectically creating a wash while the company is able to protect profits on the lower margin items and pay out higher commission percentages on items with increased profitablity (margin). Now-just going by memory from something I read only once in full line store e-mail; but it's pretty close to correct. Just trying to pass on information as personally I am not effected by these changes. The updated commission statements are available to your SGM, OPS and, if all is accurate, to your BC ASM. Ask them to print the updated commission charts that apply to the divisions which you are interested in; it's a fair question considering that they will be directly effecting the HA associates beginning 11/1/09. Hope this offers some clarification.

They are rolling out a new commssion structure in pilot stores based on "revenue and margin". I was told it will will run for 90 days. It looks pretty good on paper but if the associate benefits too much it won't last long. The idea for the longest time is getting folks off the high benefit rates.

According to those I work with in HA, what I wrote in my original post doesn't seem to be 100% accurate. Their telling me commission rates were rounded down, not up..... oh well...
