|

Okay the big meeting was partly to hype this - and I have to spend a large amount of my work time - selling it and entering the customers information into the register - but the information we were given was very little.
So I went to the website - and began to read and read and find some more info.
A customer has to enter that info from a computer screen - they are supposed to get a packet in the mail - so far a few customers are already complaining they haven't received the packet or the card.
However - when a customer registers online they have to create a profile at the Sears website.
More importantly - they are opting back in for preapproved credit card offers (I am assuming this can be from phone calls or in the mail or online?).
Now many customers have opted out of these things - with Federal and State no call lists - and are going to be angry that we as employees didn't tell them this.
Also if a customer does want to get a credit card - this now keeps Sears from having to pay an employee the incentive for getting the application (even though we are spending just as much time selling the reward card as we would a credit card).
It is very possible other companies do this with reward cards - and others may follow Sears example.
Just again is really mostly about getting those credit cards into customers hands.

You were forced to sign up?
They made this a condition of your employment?
Seems like they can't force you to - but who knows with this company.
You have to then go online and sign in - creating a profile and letting Sears know you address and whereabouts of online use.
Part of this card is of course doing credit histories and checks on people - which is part of the opting in - another hit to your credit score.
Personally I think it was designed as an underhanded way to get people to again have to accept credit offers online, in mail and over the phone.
Because many people are opting out of offers on no call/no mail lists.
Go to the website and read up on it.
Why not just tell this to customers at the store when asking them to sign up - most people won't read all the small print online.
As soon as people give their phone number at the register to get a discount - they have opted in.

Big Whoop! I signed up. I got a card. I put the sticker on my discount card.
Sign up a customer? Takes two minutes. Not a long time compared to selling a treadmill. Tell the customer that he'll get $10 to spend on other shit after buying a treadmill and they like the idea.
It's all a non-event.

I got people telling me I have to do this... I look them straight in the eye and tell them I don't have to do it and walk away. Just another way thing to force down our throats and trying to get people in the stores.

The goals are unreasonably high for sign up rates. As a cashier, Im required to get 20+ on weekdays and 70+ on weekends.
I see no personal gain by getting people to sign up but I still ask everyone and try.
I feel like we ask them so much at the register. Ive had numerous people tell me they wanted to just pay for their items and leave.

20 a day? That's absurd. Some of the stores I've visited are lucky to even see 20 customers a day. I don't suppose that would matter for the Sears quota calculation.

Corporate goal is 10% of transactions, so tell 'em unless you're rining 200 transactions a day to screw.
Also, how can they offer preapproved credit without a social? You don't need a social to sign for for Shop Your Way. You don't even need a real name.

All those aces up their sleeve won't make a bit of difference if nobody wants to play the game.
So unless this card actually incentivizes the customer to shop it's just ANOTHER waste of everyones time along with being another milk the same customer or run the well dry strategy.

Is this like the CVS card where you earn coupons and $ off coupons by making purchases?
I don't know squat about this.
