Well, lets see; usually Div. 71 is outside smoking, appreal is having a teenage meeting in the middle of Womens, brand central stands around with their finger up their ass, looking at work being done...

They may be learning that they should have applied for a different position. That is, if they don't like hard work.

I think part of the problem at our store, is that new ISMs were not told the whole story about marketing. They expected training ( no one EVER gets training!). They were told they would work some Sundays (we HAVE to work every Sunday) they were told that occasionally a Friday night (but not told until 2 a.m.), and that some ad days we would start at 5a.m..
We haven't had a big turnover, bacause most of us have a lot of years with the company, and have the hope that things will change (hey, we can still dream, can't we?) Wink

Two small items that might interest ism and ip people...

1. Just a few months ago, the ism staffing guide at our store allowed for two full timers. Now it allows for only one full timer.

2. The markdown calendar has been updated on the intranet. Each day shows HOW MANY HOURS it will take to complete the markdowns each day. (For instance, to reticket the D/18 subsequents, one hour was given. It took us seven hours. This is going to be fun.)

Stillthere, I have been helping with IP. (as well as putting up the new collateral Is there an easier system? Do you go by the PCN paper or sweep a dept. It seems to take a long time either way. Do you also re-merchandise as you go along? With are IP lead gone we aren't sure what the best way is. Thanks for any help you can give. BRM

For initials, you don't really have a choice but to use the paper as a guide.

We also do spot checks, though, on racks and tables because hoffman has been know to do "paperless" pcns that no one knows about unless they read the "display list" under pcn management on the particular day that hoffman releases the list.

For subsequents, of course, use the merchandise as a guide. For both, though, I actually do try to keep track of the items on the papers, so that we don't get blamed for "missing" stuff. Of course, we will, anyway. It's just going to happen! We do sweep departments in both situations sometimes, depending on the quantities, but like I say, I try to keep track of the items on the pcns because at my store everyone likes to point out what got missed... (let's see them try to do it!)

Yes, the whole process is very time consuming! And hoffman thinks that it can be put in a neat little box!

Half the time I have to search for the merchandise, and then if the whole rack or table doesn't go, then I have to come up with a fixture to put it on and sign it. Wheh! We try to start the work that's loaded for each day, but we can't finish on days that have big numbers to do, so we always have a catch-up folder to work on.

Funny, the calendar doesn't dictate how long we should spend on zero counts! When we're doing zero counts, the markdowns aren't getting done.... Doh!

I should fix this to say, while they are learning they are making some "stupid" mistakes. It's human. But till they learn how the things run....

Stillthere, thanks a bunch. I will pass along the information. You have been most helpful. Yes, everyone likes to point out mistakes. This job is a big challenge.
