If it was up to me in your store, I'd say thanks and send you on your way today.....don't need any negative attitudes going forward.
Thanks for your service, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

can't you just be happy he/she found something more suitable to him? and for your info, if you got rid of EVERYONE with a negative attitude, you'd be alone in the store!! there have been so many negative changes and we are still awaiting the positive results. all i know is i took a 18% pay decrease, how about you realstuff? what changes have affected YOU in the new sears??? most of us little people have seen our incomes go down, the work hours change, the schedule flexibility go out the window. we are hanging in there waiting for the positive. can't blame us at this point for being negative.

Changes have affected all of us, pay, what's expected, hours worked, etc.
Negative attitudes don't help any of us......and in my opinion need to stay at the door outside.
If you don't like it, move on........or work to make it better, by your attitude, by your actions, by your words to co-workers.

I'm all about going to work every day and making the best of it. I have co workers that say to others....'are you ok, you don't look to well today', trying to get into their minds.......
I have a smile every day, I have a positive attitude every day, no matter what...because customers can read our body language and know what we are feeling.....feel bad, and you will have a bad day....feel good and you WILL have a good day.
Life is too short to dwell on the negative, and doing so will not make you any more money in this business. While if you are positive, it rubs off on your customers and on your co workers.

I also go to work eveyday positive to my co workers, we laugh and have a good time! They arent the ones who screwed us the company did. I did not let that effect my sales at all. But I sure would not cut one person down for slamming this company cause it does suck

If you truly think it sucks, then you need a change.

Folks.... if everyone took the attitude and approach RealStuff has when they went to work, and while they are at work, our company would be performing at a higher rate than it is today.

There is a huge difference from pointing out there are problems and issues in the company and being totally negative to anything the company does. Now anyone who says the company does no wrong is also just as wrong. I believe that a positive attitude is the only way to survive in this company, but one cant close their eyes to the things that are done wrong in it. The reverse also holds true...we do some things very well..

.........., don't let the door hit you on the way out.[/quote]
The last time I heard those words verbalized they were coming from the mouth of a SM who was NOT rehired after the 2002 purge.
Funny how a corporate drone is relieved of duty while someone who bitches as much as I do, even taking it to DMs and RMs, is still there.
Fact is, most of the best in the company have either left or are preparing to do so. The direction of the company is dismal. Cosby was needed 3 years ago, there many not be enough time or $$$ for him to make any real difference now. Pretending that everything is rosy does not help anyone. But to the credit of RMs or whoever is responsible for the trend I see, it is the ass kissing yes men/women and those who lack true leadership skills who are the first to go. Someone realized that these people are not benificial to Sears at the store level. The same needs to be done at corporate, until then people like realstuff can just continue to be happy with poor comany performance, reduced income, stonger competition, fewer benifits, smaller pensions and declinging stock value (once there are no assets left to sell and no costs left to cut while keeping the doors open).

I agree with some who are saying that we see alot of changes and are looking for some positive backing from the company.
When you have been working for somewhere for awhile, been loyal for the company and do what you have been asked, then people in the store start seeing hours cut, and asked to do more, I would think we could all understand why they are a slight bit frustrated.
People also claim to be taking pay cuts. When you have a family to feed, and all of the sudden your pay is cut, and you haven't seen any positive out of it yet, then sure you are going to see people feeling confused and maybe even negative.
*IF you keep telling people if you don't like it, leave, then one day you are going to have no one, people will always be frustrated on ocassion. Also if you keep telling people they have to do something because thats their job, then just remember that soon all they will do is just their job, and nothing more, and soon customer satisfaction will go down because they won't care to go above and beyond ever.

Footie I will disagree with you. I am a very top performer, I am not a trouble maker. people have to work as a team, especially in commisson sales. The way realstuff talks and insults new co workers on here. Throws arrogance around, I would see real stuff in a store that no one can get along with. You do not insult and act rude to anyone you work with.Todays workforce is all about team work. If you think that arrogance is what you need, You have been in Hofrman too long out of the store level too long. Insulting people do not get along in team work. In our store we are family and best friends. We work together, ring for each other, if emergencies come up we will work seven days a week for each other. We have to stick together, I guess that is why are store is always in the top four in the district. We like to be one.

there is an old saying: a positive attitude doesn't always work but a negative attitude will always fail. that said, my rosy and cheerful attitude would appreciate seeing more people in the store so we have a chance to sell something.

My intention of this post was to tell people that I have put in my two weeks notice and that I wished everyone the best of luck. What it turned into is a debate on being positive or negative at work. Personally when I go to work I do try and make the best of it. On the other hand, when problems did arise I tried to come up with the best solution and present it to a manager. I know some might say well "it's no good to tell a manager anything" and a lot of times that can be true, but at the end of the day I just try and do my best. I made an effort to try and help my peers get a union going at my store but they were so scared of being fired that know one would speak up. It is upsetting to see a lot of people in my store who have worked there 10 or more years (many 15-20 years) offer great service to customers and are aggressive to get sales but when it comes to speaking up it's like they are 5 years old and are scared of the big bad sears monster. From talking to them over the years I seemed to get the impression that many of them were upset with what was going on and felt helpless to do anything about it. When I would look into their eyes (no it's not going to get romantic) I could see the pain and worry in their eyes. They came to work every day, worked hard and fought over little scraps of commission. When I began to understand somewhat (not totally since I am not in their shoes) of what they were going through I tried to help but it seemed as if sears had sucked the life out of them.
Many of the people I work with are in their last 5 years or so with the company and are just waiting tell they can retire. They know the company has made a lot of mistakes and are continuing to make them. Every once in a while they bring up "the good old times" where they were treated with more respect then they used to be. I really and honestly believe that footie and realstuff fail to realize that the commissioned people in brand central are not just merely upset over their pay. They are not treated the same as they use to be. It is unacceptable that the people I work with are not treated like good human beings and with the up most respect. The point system is completely demoralizing to people. I see them day after day hurrying over (like kids) to the CPU terminals to clock in so they won't be more then six minutes late. Running a company takes more then just paying them well. You need to pay attention to them. If your a manager treat your workers like your family and expect a lot from them but give a lot in return. Ask them "how they are doing" instead of "how are your PA's today?" It is insulting to me to think that me and everyone else that works there does not know that pa performance and credit performance is important. We do know very well. We need managers with backbones who can speak up and tell their district managers problems that need fix and not merely say "yes Mam/sir everything is wonderful". But again managers (at the store level at least) seem increasingly fearful of loosing their jobs. I left sears because it is not the company I thought it was. I feel lucky to be young and going to school to be able to try a different avenue.
For the people who are vested in this company I urge you to stand up and fight. I had good and bad times at sears but because of what has happened their and taken place over the years I have worked their I will probably never shop there again. It's too bad they cant treat associates like people and not like numbers.
P.S. realstuff telling me that you hope the door doesn't kick me on the way out is exactly the kind of negative mentality i am talking about. You don't even know me but are able to make a rude and disrespectful remark. You know you would make a good manager at sears.

You know you seem to have taken a keen intrest in me bodyguard. Maybe during the fall semester (right before christmass) you can come down and we can meet in person. I think we could have some pretty good debates. Do you like burgers? I eat at in an out all the time. Do you have an in and out where you live ??? if you don't i feel bad, your missing out on a great burger. My favorite is a double double (animal style). I love thier fries to.
