I just found this forum, courtesy of NumberOne. Right after the old Retailworker site was discontinued, I left Sears. I hated to do it because of the people I worked with but I had to do what I think is best. Sears seems to want to reduce the full time labor force and I decided to give them a little help. My new job has much more potential. The company and the way I am treated is much more professional. There is life after Sears. I just wanted to sign on and wish you all the best. Good luck and fare well!

Sears lost another great salesperson. Forget that CommonCents is also a great guy. When Sears drove him out by recuding his income potential...they put another hole in their profits.

Give it a while....all corporations are the same....you will be expected to perform to minimum standards....if you could not at Sears, then I would expect you fall short in your new job.

Good Luck.

realstuff, you REALLY get on my nerves. of course we are expected to perform to minimum standards. how about PA percentages??? wow, for the past 2 years i have been at goal. this year i have a higher percentage than ever, but the "minimum standard" was raised. now, i suck in managements eyes, even tho i am doing better than ever. i sell more than ever and earn less. we don't mind having standards and being held accountable. it's when we succeed and management changes the standards to the point most fail and then blame us that we get mad.

just out of curiosity, how long have you been with sears and what's your position??

1973 and I have been just about everything........

Attitude makes the difference. Standards will change, yes...they will go up. There are many many examples of people achieving the standards the company sets. We all just need to accept what the company wants and get down to business.

so what are you NOW??? expectations at sears always go up, and income goes down. i consider myself a professional, as do most of my co-workers, but it burns us that sears treats us like we are kids. remember the day of taking care of the customer? remember the day of making a living? remember when 4.9 was the goal in 46 and 5.4 was the goal in 22, and STILL only a few made it? the harder we try, the more it seems that management knocks us down.

once again, realstuff, how have the changes in the new sears affected YOU??? is YOUR income down? has your flexibility in schedule changed? do you empathize AT ALL with the common sales person, cashier, MPU, MCA? how has your income changed in say the past 5 years?? it DISTRESSES us to see the CONSTANT turnover in sales associates in brand central. new hires are gone in months.

Good luck, had friends who left and moved on, seem to be happy with their new jobs. Maybe its just the fact they are just getting started doing something new.... don't know exactly but i say good luck to anyone who wants to give a new try to do something, it takes a lot to break out of comfort.
