Covington? Sounds like it might appeal to elderly ladies. They need a name that fits the times and appeals to younger buyers.

sears has always been bass ackwards when it comes to softlines...they have no clue what fashion is, and by the time they find out, they are five years late

I agree. Covington sounds very old and stodgy. It does not sound like something that is interesting or fashionable. Land's End is in the same rut. It is not clothing that is of any current fashion. It is far from trendy at a time when most people purchase trendy clothing. It is old looking and boring. If you are buying clothes for back to school and want to punish your kids, the thing that will strike the most fear in them is saying "If you don't stop mis-behaving, Mom and Dad are going to buy all your new clothes at Sears!" It is sure to work. What normal kid would want to be seen in Covington and Land's End when all their friends are showing off their new outfits from Gap, Old Navy, Aeropostale, Abercrombie and Fitch, and all the other stores that sell clothes that look good?

However, Covington is a nice brand. Found same line at Kohl's under their name of course. I think sears did not give the covington line the right amount of time in the lime light.

Some of the Coventon mens shirts seem to be dull and faded.

But SouthPole is popular in a store close to ours.. Six guys walked in over the weekend and took all the south Pole and Ran..

Covington is just plain awful. Anyone with any sense of style can see that. Land's end is horrible. I agree with Thundrous. It is old looking. It is not stylish. My kids tell me it is uncool. I don't want to wear any of it either. What is wrong with Sears is that they don't know squat about fashion. To make matters worse, the name "Covington" just does not conger up an image of style. It sounds old. The reason six people would steal all the Southpole clothes and not bother with Land's End or Covington is that Southpole has value. Why would a store leave a display of Southpole unprotected anyhow?

One thing I would like to point out, is that right now we have too much. Too cluttered to much it is almost work to try to find something. Our childrens department to me is one of the best in retail. We carry all the right brands from carters, just beautiful selection. ( Or I just love buying baby stuff) We do though. Where we need help is teens, we need our own Identity and someone who can help here. I know that teen clothes have to be the hardest to establish. You never know from one momement to the next what they will like. I was also very sad to see our Executive Collection of Womans leave.

No matter what, we'll never get the teens nowadays to buy from sears.

They go where the name of the store and the look of the store is something that they can identify with or that they wish they could be part of.

A girl might just have one item from sexy, expensive, Abercrombie, but it's going to be her favorite item. A guy who likes the clean cut preppy look from the Gap, KNOWS those labels are in his shirts and on his jeans and it's part of who he represents himself to be.

What junior high or high school teenager would want to have his or her look, be that of sears, where his or her mom bought the refrigerator!

By the way, I looked around today and almost all our customers are elderly! Yes, there were some moms with screaming kids, but it's doubtful to me that those kids will grow up to be our customers.
