You know, if you take all the corporate scandal stories that have come out over the past decade, realizing that there are probably hundreds more that haven't come out... it's hard to avoid the conclusion that many of our large corporations are simply a major part or at least the equivalent of what we consider organized crime in America.

Twenty-thirty years ago we were hearing that organized crime was "going legit" and moving into "legitimate" business enterprises. If this were true, it would at least explain the fact that a majority of those businesses now seem to be pretty fat at not only the expense of their stockholders and employees but at the direct expense of the taxpayers in ripping off the government on defense and other vital service contracts with only minor slaps on the wrist by government watchdogs.

We've now sold out Homeland Security to a group of corporations, many of which have already been sanctioned for "shenanigans" involving the safety and well being of the people in our armed forces. It's no wonder that much of the world now regards us as a nation of corrupt conniving crooks out to exploit everything and anything that comes within our grasp.

This goes on even as our government seeks to dismantle the few safeguards against it that are still in place.

Hate to say it but they should've hired more lawyers to help save us from things like the Patriot Act which slowly but steadily take away our rights under the guise of fear. The government was just like a corporate exec didn't want to admit to incompetance so they just say "we need more" ,"we want this"-"it's that darn little out dated under manned system that would've just worked fine in implemented correctly from day one".See a system failure requires that someone take the blame such as INS official or a intellegence director but since requires firing a fellow politician that means blame on what you Don't have and not trying to work with what you do have.
