How many of you are happy with your jobs at Home Depot?? I am thinking of joining the team at our local store. Is it a fair place to work? How many hours a week does management work? Is there a good team spirit in the stores?

Hey Shoedog,
I am happy with my job at HD. It has it's problems but then again so does anywhere else you work. Your experience there will be what you make it if you do your job to the best of your abilities for yourself.

I work at Lowes and one thing you can say about retaill== it is never boring, something new everyday. New policies, new procedures, new mad customers.

For the most part, I enjoy my job at Home Depot....BUT....I think 'they're' micro-managing the hell out of it!!! I think Nardelli needs to go bye-bye, too!!! It's definatly not the same company it was when I started in '97. There used to be such a feeling of comaraderie. There used to be incentives like living wages and real raises to do your best, instead of intimidation. We used to hire only the best i.e. former construction workers, electritions, retired plumbers....and they'd stay on because the money was right. Now we're flooded with dumb-ass punks who couldn't care less...and who can blame them, they're getting paid $7.00 an hour. Like a friend of mine says, it's now orange WalMart.

Mad

I found out I like my job again. Our SM got fired, and it wasn't until he left that I realized just how much of a difference he made to store morale.

For the record, this is the second SM to be fired form my store in two years.

The first one chased underaged boys.
The second one chased underaged girls.
Lord help us when the third arrives. My guess is farm animals...
