This Sunday the two HD stores out here in the Sand Dunes are having a combined meeting at a local resort (15 miles from my store and 10 from the other) to receive our Success Sharing checks. My store did 131% of plan and the other did 104%. With the reformating of the Success Sharing we stand to get double of what we did the last half. All the brass from the west coast are showing up to share in the festivities. This is all going down at 5-7am. How festive can that be? This restort here in the Sand Dunes is one of the most exclusive in this summer resort town. This is going to be a very expensive meeting. All associates from both stores are required to attend. When we have to do the Big Orange cheer it does nothing but tick me off. I am not one that likes to yell (esp. at 5am). Maybe it motivates some but not me. Can you imagine what it will be like with 3-400 people doing this all at the same time. Oh yes, this resort is so exclusive it has parking for 80 cars. I guess we will have to park on the Golf Course. The stores out here open up at 7am on Sundays so the normal Sunday morning Grinches will really be Grinched out when we are not there on time to hold their hands. I suppose it will give them something real to be upset about for a change. A full 3/4 of our store at least ask to be excluded from the meeting. We just want to do our 8 hours, get our check and go home. But no says our management, We have to show up to impress the big ones who probably haven't seen the sunrise in years. I don't see a need to impress them. I think it's time for all upper management to do a turn around and impress those below them. I could list all the impressions we would like to see but all in retail know what I am talking about. In my humble opinion this will be such a waste of time and money. Oh well, life goes on and I'm off to another exciting HD adventure. What will it be? Hell who know's but I'm sure HD will think it's great.

Thanks for letting me share my morning coffee with you.
