I've become a DVD junkie.

This year, I've spent more money on DVD's than probably anything else. But, my leads on sweet flicks are dwindling and I already own almost everything that I know I like. So, I'm looking for opinions on must-see movies: films that belong in every movie buffs collection.

My recommendation to myself would be Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (or, simply "Amélie") which is probably the coolest movie I've ever seen. And, oddly enough, I don't own it yet - I'm partial to boxed sets and series. Embarassed

So, recommend me some flickage! I'm want to go DiViD shopping this weekend!

ooh! Family Guy is most definitely on my "to buy" list.

I dig Willem DaFoe too. He was absolutely hilarious in Wild at Heart.

Too cool. Excellent recommendations! I've never heard of either before but they both appear to be right up my alley. I'm a total sucker for series.

Hecubus. Nuff said.

Willow is another favorite of mine. I just love Val Kilmer's "Mad Martigan", and the Brownies.

I'd heard of "Amélie", now I guess I'll have to stop putting off seeing it.

I like comedies, but they are so hard to come by nowadays. Sometimes I feel like we will never again see the likes of the Monty Python, Carryon ___, Pink Panther dynasties. The sitcoms of today have a lot to learn from the funnies of yesteryear too. I miss the mood-lifting light comedy of shows like The Love Boat and Get Smart, and the genuine full-episode-long belly laughs brought on by Cheers, The Jeffersons, and most recently NewsRadio. Praised be a dozen holy elephants and a thousand sacred buddhist temple monkeys that NewsRadio complete seasons one and two are coming out this May. Yay!

It's too bad that Dennis Leary never got a bigger break. While his standup shows (No Cure For Cancer, Lock N'Load) were rated-R in the language department, he was hillarious. I enjoyed The Ref.

Oddly enough, just minutes after my last post, TKITH aired on our comedy channel. I had forgotten how funny the chicken lady and the police department sketches are.

So, I picked up season 1 of Chapelle's Show, and a couple of classics; Cheech and Chong's Next Movie, and (yes, you can laugh) the Battlestar Galactica TV pilot.

I did see Carnivale there, but I was hesitant to drop that kind of cash on a show I've never seen. It does look interesting though. I'll have to check it out some more. I'm probably going again next week anyways; volume 5 of the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series was released in the US last week, so it should be crossing the 49th any day now and that bad boy's a must-buy.

Pulp Fiction is definitely on my list.

Today I picked up the 32 episode set of Buck Rodgers (the entire series I believe), Season 1 of Twin Peaks (only season available Sad), volume 1 of Family Guy, and a 10 movie "film noir" set .

I now need to buy or build a shelf to keep them all on.
Surprised

Regrettably, I missed it when it was on the toob. Thus I've only seen the pilot, season 1, and Fire, Walk With Me. Incredible show though; everytime I watch it I end up walking around for days imitating Waldo the myna bird. "Laura? Laura? Leo, no!" Season 1 ends with such an incredible cliff-hanger too! It just irks me to no end that the subsequent seasons haven't been, and may not ever be, released.

OMG! Have you ever seen Pink Flamingos? Talk about tasteless! I own a copy... I'll lend it to you, permanently!
