i think sears can not keep enough corporate executives stacked up to take the place of the next one fired if he can not make sears what it once was. all we see is different schemes, no plan, no follow thru. just people going thru the routine of doing their job and hoping sears will regain market share by osmosis. sure sears has the sears charge card and they have hooked many on that, but now it does not even belong to them. they get money from it, but down the road what happens when a company sells off its credit . whats next. a new scheme. Doh!

an accurate observation by rp... The business climate changes, and Sears didn't run with the same stamina the competitors did.

Sears has one chance left. Sales. It's easy when you know how. We have people (the big-ticket sales associates in the stores) who have known how to sell professionally for years.

The temporary stock inflation has little to do with the lasting value of the company. It is for you to decide which is most important.

Very good point WHTS. I had moved a good portion of my sears at 63 a couple of years ago but still had a good chunk left. I just sold my last 1/2 of sears at 40. when it was low I said I'd move it if it ever hit 40. I guess they say there's Rock on! room for bears, room for bulls, but no room for Pigs. Hope it keeps going up but my read is the raise is a knee jerk reaction to the latest news and when retail has to stand on its own Sears will be back in the tank. Hope not for my friends sake. GFG

I'm one of those who is still holding a substantial amount of his portfolio in Sears stock banking on the continued rise. I'm sure I'll get cold feet and bail at some point but I'm not sure at what price.

Do I hear $50????

Yes, we have the big ticket sales associates in the stores who have known how to sell professionally for years. Our problem is now, how to get people into the store, and up the escalator. Lately, our traffic in bc is rapidly diminishing. The sales associates are patiently waiting for customers to come in. It is a really sad sight most days.

On the converse, there's a crowd waiting to purchase their clearance clothing at the center aisle cashwraps. They don't even walk near brand central except to ask where the restroom is. Employees and customers alike are talking about how they can buy outfits for eight, ten and twenty dollars. Doesn't sound very profitable to me. And a lot of those items are our beautiful lands' end, devalued to almost nothing.

Seriously, I think if Land's End finds out they're giving more % off the clearance they'll sue for breach of contract and Sears will take a dive.

Damn... i need clothes too. At those prices, I can't afford NOT to go shopping. Now if I only had a little spare time.... I'd head out to Spring Hill and part with some cash. Rock on!

GFG, we seem to be on the same page. I sold most of my stock at 40.4. It's gone up a buck since then but better safe then sorry. I'll buy in again if it goes below 20 or if I see a BOD nad management team that can fix this company. So far the only key player I would bet on is Cosby. I haven't seen or heard much about the others, even Lacy seems to be keeping a low profile........maybe he's run out of reasons for the bad SSS #'s.

Same in our store. No customers in BC, but tons of folks scooping up the clearance, especially Land's End.

Watch the Stock very closely, if your planning on selling at some point. Don't get greedy. Razz When it starts to go down it will be fast. Shocked You know what thet say about timing the market. Confused

Good Luck!!!! Rock on! Rock on!

SSS numbers for July for the Sears retail part of business should come in down about 3%. Was this inline with projections? Anyone hear what was expected?
