Your chances of getting hired are excellent. They need to get the results of your tests back before they can actually offer you a position. No you do not need a degree for any position. Tell them at your next interview, or when they call, that you will do whatever they need (to get your foot in the door) but that you really are interested in home decor and paint, that you feel you could do your best job there. Good luck! Thumbs Up

well good luck, lowes is a great company if you like retail, they are really growing and if you work hard and do the right thing ,you can get promoted quickly. i worked for lowes for 2years and recently left to go back to an outside sales job. not every one can work as an outside sales rep as not everyone is cut out for a career in retail. just a bit of advice, don 't complain to any one at work, if you have any complaints about lowes do, it here or take it home, mgmt does not want to hear it. (former flooring dept mgr)

Hi ivyclassic..and thanks..and yes I know retail can be difficult, however that is what all my experience is in..and yes I know not to complain..lol, because I hate hearing people complain myself I wouldnt want to ever sound like some people I have worked with before..Im one of those types of people who do the job without comlaining and I don't bitch that much about my job..to me its just stupid because if you hate your job and all you do is complain...simple sulution that no one ever does is get a new job!!haha..
but my plans are to work hard and grow in the company..so I am already in the mind state of working hard..which should be expected of me and anyone who works retail for that matter..
I just hope that lowes appreciates me and ya know even a simple thank you/good job..would be nice..I like to be noticed for my hard work..and so far many retail company's lack that in their managers..so Im hoping lowes is differant..or at least I will end up with nice bosses that are more aware of things.

you sound like you have the right attitude, what position are u applying for and what state do u live in?i started as an hourly, then became a flooring specialist and then dept mgr. dept mgr is a very challenging position. although, you can really advance as far as you want with Lowe s and if you are good you can move up quite fast. i just didn t want to work nights and weekends anymore. good luck

and thanks for the encouragement, I look forward to starting , I never thought I would say this but I can't wait to get working...

and I have a good feeling about lowes..because like I said I was also going through many intereveiws at Target and It just didn't feel right, something didn't feel right with Target..and also I had a feeling lowes called me and sure enough they did..so I take this as a huge blessing if I do get this job..something differant to learn ya know..and im ready to learn..

well do you have retail mgmt experience? you can start as a csa(customer service associate) it is an hourly position , full-time is 39-40 hours a week. a specialist position is salried position plus some commission and bonus oppurtinity.you work a minimun of 48 hoursand dept mgr is salaried and about a minimum of 50 hours a week.again if you like retail, lowes is a good place to work,
good luck

thanks ivy..well now that I look in retrospect at the last interview I think I kind of made it look as if I was going for mangment, because I tried to say things that could back up my experience and I think I sounded more professional..lol so possibly it could be for managment..not sure..
thank you...
yes I should be applying to other jobs just in case

take whatever they offer you, if you are smart (i know you are) and i can tell you have the right attitude you can get promoted very fast, especailly when a new store opens , positions change very quick, some people get fired, some don t like the job and some are transfered out of a position because it is not the right job for them. This was my experience .The store I opened is a very busy store, a lot of turnover at first.
4 store managers in less than 2 yrs. keep the faith ,but go on other interviews in case Lowes falls through or you find that you do not like working there

well good luck, find out if they want you to enter a training program for dept mgr, or if they are offering you an hourly position, again ,take what they give you , but try to get more money whatever they offer, because raises are not much unless you get promoted into mgmt. good luck and keep in touch.

well concrads i think? how many hours are you scheduled for, be careful if they hired you on a seasonal basis, that means after the 100 days of summer and business drops off they can lay you off. however if they like you they probably will keep you. they did that to a lot of people at my store so they didn thave to give them a review a t 90 days. take the job and see how it goes . Lowes is a good company , but to me its still retail, long hours nights and weekends and not the greatest pay
that is why i left Lowes, tired of retail
good luck

thanks I appreciate it, and where I am located, the company pays pretty well..
and ya know they hired alot of people for seasonal..im not sure if Im one of them or not..but the sm told me basicly if you can't get through the store setup your gone..so I plan on working hard, and I also plan on going back to school for a teaching degree..because I don't want to work retail the rest of my life either lol...
I think I can manage working retail half my life and teaching the other half haha..
thats my goal anyway..
thanks again..

I started working at lowes because i neeeded a job for the summer . after the summer i was not allowed to sub , because i wrked too many days(ny state law for public schools) thats why i stayed at lowes 2 years, good luck
