I know this sounds crazy and I am sure that I am going to be kicked out of this site before I formally meet all of the regular poster, but I loved my job as a head cashier at the Home Depot. I loved most of the people that I worked with, the pay was somewhat reasonable (it never is enough for the HELL the put through day in and out), and even the annoying customer I dealt with on a daily basis.

However, I did not agree with HD's little attendance system. Granted, I can see why they needed it. I saw people, even though they knew they were going to get points for i, still cheat the clock. Whenever I was late, it was usally on ly 10 or 15 minutes, and I ALLWAYS tried to call first. The rest of my points came from mispunches that, because of our faulty timeclock, I would not be suprised if I actually DID punch and the Fricking thing just kicked it out.

The "nice" (it's not the right word, but the only one I can think of) thing about it is that, when my Ops. manager escorted me from the building, everyone was just in utter shock that they would let someone like me go. Not that I am bolstering here, but I was a slave to the Front End.

My question is this--does anyone know what the rehiring policy is for people who are fired for an attendance problem (which, I might I add, they waited a month and a half after I earned my last point to "correct" me)?

Get this, too. They waited until I was a mere five days away from my one year anniversary. Kind of ironic, isn't it?

BuddhistBoy- The code that is entered into the AIMS system, the electronic filing the HR does upon any status change of any associate, tells Atlanta what your rehire status is. Attendence, safety, harassment, drugs or alcohol, no call/no show, insubordination and insufficient notice when quiting are all non rehireable events. Atlanta changes the rules all the time so things can change, but probably not likely because of potential lawsuits over fairness. The point system itself is questionable as to fairness because who's to say whether points got tallied on the "wunderkind" associates, the bosses favorites. It is a tool used by management to do the dirty work for them and lay a big guilt trip on the poor object of it's wrath. It is a huge lawsuit waiting to happen, but takes an incredible amount of documentation. You are much better off finding a position elsewhere and that doesn't mean Lowes, cause they are identical to HD in structure just 1/2 the size.

There isnt a district manager you could of argued your point with and maybe given another chance? Do you feel you were black listed? There isnt a system at Home Depot where if you feel unjustly fired you can try to deliberate? I dont feel being late to work sets a example for the other cashiers under you. Maybe you were used as an example?
