Hey everyone,
I am new to this site, figured I would vent. I just finished my two year stretch with Lowes not by my own choice.
I really took pride in my job. I was a department manager since the day I stepped in to the company. Moved from front end manager, to Electrical and then took over Appliances, Cabinets and Flooring all at once with no pay increase. I worked overnights whenever neccessary. I followed policy and held those that didn't accountable. I hardly ever called in unless I was seriously sick and even worked on some of my days off. And they fired me. They fired me because I did not kiss butt to move up in the company.
I am sure everyone is aware of the monthly price audit that needs to be scanned at the first of the month and then finished by the end of the month. While I was overseeing appliances I had my team leader scan the department for me. Around the 15th of the month I printed what was left of the report(and if anyone knows appliances knows that there are usually a good 4-5 pages left). I worked every single item number page for page. Scanned what I found, gave my reason for what I couldn't. I had the entire report worked and scanned by the 16th of the month.
I was made aware on the 3rd of the following month that a few days prior we had gotten walked by our DOTM. He apparently did a price audit of appliances and found 10 price mis-matches. According to the manager who walked me out he told me that those price mis-matches were all my fault and that if I had worked my price audit properly I would have known that. So he basically said that I either pencil whipped the entire thing or I knowingly did not change the price labels. Needless to say I am quite hurt that for something so small and so not my fault got me fired. For someone who dedicated a lot of time and sacrificed a lot of family events I got the big "see ya later."
I am intending on fighting this absurd accusation however the store manager is not making it esay on me. He refuses to answer the phone. How mature. Anyone know how to get the attention of the president of the company?
Very frustrated and becoming poor Sad

I am sorry that you lost your job, but I cannot believe that you got fired because you had a couple of mismatched prices. I bet there is more to this story even if you don't know what it is. Is it possible that they had another reason but could not actually say they were letting you go for the real reason?

Half of the time our price audit report never gets finished. The dept. get scanned, the report gets worked long enough to get us at the required percentage (90%) and then it usually never gets touched again. They have been encouraging everyone to try to get 100% but it isnt happening. I still find SOOO many price mismatches when I scan for IRPs at night. If people were working their audits it wouldn't happen, and so far no one has been repremanded.

I know that it sounds weird and for a very stupid reason but that is exactly what the store manager said to my face. You are probably correct. There probably was another reason. But if that is the case I will go higher and fight my case. Thumbs Up
