Well that certainly works well for some at our store! Thumbs Up

I don't think there's an actual policy in regards to promoting staff. I think the best bet is to just keep bugging management until you get what you want. If you're a part-timer, make it VERY clear that you want full time and that you're interested in growth with the company.

At Rona the whole "squeaky wheel gets the grease" concept works well. Make sure you talk to the right managers. If you have a better relationship with some than with others, even if they're not your ZM, then make regular conversation with them about your goals as a Rona employee. That way when something comes up in a manager's meeting about new positions or whatever, they'll have your name in mind.

Woodenhead, was there ever any luck with getting on the reno crew? You were talking about that last time you posted.

That's my 2 cents. Good Luck! Smile

I think the whole reno crew was born out of somebody's idea to get managers to send their 'superstars' out to build new stores.

The ones from my store who went were the ones who always put in the overtime and had experience from renovating our own store. I don't know what extent the renos went to in Winnipeg, but our place was about five or six years old and alot of layout changes were made with a very small crew of people who worked around the clock to get it done. I'm sure there was some ass-kissing involved, but I must say, the one who ended up going were definitely deserving of the promotion.

I doubt they make much more than the average sales person though. I guess they do get the benefit of travel hours and paid meals, but they have to live in hotel rooms - in some rather undesirable locations, IMO - I can't really say I'm envious of that.

May I ask, how long have you been with the company WH?
