Shocked I work at a Lowes on the east coast. The night stocking crew has recently found out that the wages paid vary greatly from employee to employee on that crew. The wages run from $8 per hour to $9.60 per hour. Amazingly, the lower paid people have the most years service and the highest paid people have the least service time. Of course, all the crew does the same work, thus the qualifications are equal as is the work conditions. Both men and women are on this crew and the lower paid, for the most part, are the women. Isn't there a law about" equal pay for equal work"? Is there a possible lawsuit here? My opinion of this situation is this: Pay all equally and that the wage paid be the highest presently paid on the crew. One other opinion. I have worked in an union enviroment for 30 years. I "retired" with a small pension and the all important health insurance, thanks to a union contract. In the last 5 years, my work has been in non-union workplaces. I do think that some unions have problems, primarily corrupt leadership, but the concept of unions is still a good, valid one. That is clearly evident at Lowes. The forementioned situation would not have occured if this were a Union shop! I know that Lowes corporate has "watchers" on sites like these. It is just as good as getting information off the bathroom wall. I had a plant manager tell me years ago that if he needed to know what was going in the plant, he would just read the bathroom walls. It was a place to air complaints without reprisal. This board is the same as long as one keeps general and leaves out specific "telltale" details. I enjoy reading the posts on this board and may your day be a good one.

Surprised I will submit this to "Bright Ideas" They simply need to install a Dry Erase board on the walls of each stall and over each urinal. Brilliant! Why did I not think of that before?

blowes sucks when it comes to pay. they dont pay equal for equal work. I have been there for 4+ yrs and I get less than a new guy comming in. i started at 10 and now im at 11.62. granted its p/t and i make 2x's that @ FedEx. But they will hire kids out of h.s. making more than me, lol.

if you are me you get 10 an hr, if you are a girl you get 9.50 if you are a black kid they will pay you 7.75 and if you are are a girl w/ big tits they will give you 13. blowes has not morals at all.

Update: If you are equiped with a vagina, you will get more than a married white guy. If you are black or any other ethnic group, you get more money than a married white guy. If you are single white guy, you get more than a married white guy. If you have big tits, you hit the big money. This may sound a bit biased, but it is not. That is how the Blowes stores I am at works. They have depleted the local labor pool so badly, they are now hiring former employees who were fired for stealing and put them in their old positions. It is a fact folks, just a fact. Naughty!

I started at Lowes almost 3 years ago and I started at 7.50 an hour and now I make 8.29 as a part time associate. However I'm still only a CSA 1. I actually started as a loader which sucks, don't ever go into that position, you want to be treated like garbage not only from head cashiers but from EVERYONE go right ahead.
