Sad What's up with delivery going to a third party? We have the leverage on all compitition with next day delivery and now we have to fax all deliveries for the next day by 2:30 to secure that timetable. Is this the advantage that is broadcast daily???? Why would we do what the others do???

Most of the higher volume stores have been required to go to a third party delivery system. I know in the past in my store we had it and the shrink went way up. We were losing appliances left and right. Makes you think doesn't it?

We tried third party delivery years ago. They had to be guarenteed so many deliveries and ended up tearing up more then they delivered. We went back to our old delivery crew. It is not perfect, but, far better then any outside crew. Rock on!

We currently use HDG as out 3rd party delivery team they do all deliverys in our district for eveyrthig that can't go on the pig. It has been about an year now. the easiest way to describe it is a disaster. Most of the team does not speak any english.
We get charged about $500 per day for each truck they use plus a fee for every door they enter.

I thought in store was bad, It makes me appreciate what we had before.

we are 1 week into HDG and they are terrible! they will not deliver lawn tractors, they've walked into a customer's house unannouced and scratched their floor, they've damaged 2 appliances and they have a 9pm cutoff for next day when we close at 10pm.

As I watch J.J. win tonight, I wonder if Lowe's really understands, under this new leadership, what the hell they are doing? It is not just higher volume stores going this route, it is all stores in my market. We were told that they would have their own trucks that have a logo similar to Lowe's, they showed up in rentals. We were told that they would wear HDG shirts and the 1st day they had on Sears jackets. These idiots started in Boston and have filtered down the east coast to Atl, but its funny how they have not been introduced in N.C.

A buddy of mine who now works in Statesville NC called me a few weeks ago about this and we had heard nothing. However, be ware, they are coming to a metro market of yours soon.

And by the way, my delivery crue, except for the Dep mgr, was great. We scored high every month for delivery and even had a customer walk out of our store today when we told him that we went to a third party delivery. Confused

I am in a N.C. store and we haven't heard anything about 3rd party delivery, it sounds like it's a nightmare! So everybody is supposed to be changing to this?

Is Lowes becoming the new chinese of WalMart? Instead of cheap products, they use cheap delivery. Rolling Eyes That's one of two things our contractors rely upon. In stock items, and ASAP delivery, which we strive to provide our customers.

It sounds like a nightmare! How many calls do you get a day in appliances asking/complaining about delivery? Do you have any way of reaching them while they are on the road?

Seems like 2 or more during the week. Luckily though the other day we had 17 appliances go out and no problems.

These guys are a pain though. They don't take doors off of refrigerators to get them inside of houses and the ensuing results are broken door handles, scratches on doors, holes in walls, and marks on hardwood floors.

Our regular delivery crew ends up going out to customer's houses to fix problems that the 3rd party crew create. Its a mess, a total mess

Monday, had a whole house of appliance returned due to HDG damaging appliances and the house. Tuesday, crew is supposed to arrive at store at 7am, showed up at 9. Took washer out for delivery and took away washer and dryer. Had a 4 hour window for one delivery, 30 minutes after that window customer still did not have her washer and no phone call.

Was informed by StM that we could no longer have our install sales office take care of gas range/dryer installs, they had to go through HDG. Apparently the person in charge of this area was upset when we told him that his crew could'nt install a fridge correct much less a gas appliance. He called the regional Ops who then call the DM and so on.

About to get our 3rd crew in the beginning of the 3rd month of this crap. Maybe one of those bean conters in Wilksboro, assuming they can read, can look at this and see what a disservice this is to our customers, but then again, would they really care?

In my old store they've had HDG for awhile now. There's really only two well three people in deliveries now and that's mostly for lumber and that includes the manager.

There might have been problems at first but as far as I know not anymore. If hdg damages anything they have to pay for it. As long as address are on it, it should be fine.

They seem to be pretty fast although from what I understand tend to take their own safety lightly. I've heard in one store one of them broke their foot or a leg getting it caught in that loading area (you know how you put that rod in and pull...that area)

Doh! 3 damaged fridges and 1 damaged range in 3 days this week alone. one was a brand new clearance model thanks to my rdc, that these idiots ran into a fence in order to take it up 20 stairs to damage the handles and break the water line attached to the unit. another was a brand new unit in the box that they dropped down a couple of stairs to creat a crease where it buckled along with a huge scratch along the side. the other fridge they damaged on both sides trying to get it into the house as well as damaging the rollers. this was all on monday. I was on the phone from 6pm untill 9:15pm with those customers trying to find a solution that will satisfy them. fortunetly, we could replace 2 of the fridges and the other took a payoff that will all be charged to HDG.

today, one of my customers called and said that they damaged his range that they delivered, I passed it off to my store mgr. this guy spends tons of $ in my store(contractor) so I hope we keep him as a customer.

almost forgot, they delivered a fridge yesterday and were to haul away the old unit. they left it in the customer's driveway telling them they would come back today to pick it up. we received a call about 4pm that it was still in their driveway and HDG drivers had already gone away for the day.

so, to the bean counters in NORTH WILKSBORO, this is crap!!! we keep being told by our customers after deliveries like this that they will never shop for appliances in lowes again.

is this what the goal really is? i sat through lowes tv about 1 1/2 months ago with some blowhard saying that lowes wants to take the market share away from sears! what market are they talking about? Slapout AL?

oh by the way, sent my guys out, yeah the real lowes delivery guys, to take care of all 3 of these fridge problems. took 3 steps instead of 20 to fridge in house, delivered 2nd with no problems, fixed the scratch on the 3rd and negotiated a settlement. WHY IN THE HELL DO WE TRY TO GET RID OF THE GOOD ONES?????????????? DO WE TRY TO PISS PEOPLE OFF SO THEY DON'T SHOP WITH OUR STORE ANYMORE?????

we've got enough problems with most appliances flowing through the rdc and now this crap!

if lowes did'nt have the best health insurance in retail i'd already have another job!
