have you all heard the latest lame-ass promotion macy's is doing now? now they want us to ask the customers to pay ANOTHER $5.00 to save a leaf, or tree or something like that. fees go to the national parks foundation.
yah, i asked one woman...she said no. then i said, i don't blame ya. why pay $5.00 when you get a handful of coupons every week for free? it's one thing when it's for an important cause like the american heart association, but now for a friggin leaf? come on now. it makes us sound like idiots. i feel embarassed even asking. that is it. i asked once. i will NOT be asking customers to donate for this. i have to draw the line somewhere.
hey, macy's execs !!! you reading this? knock off the convulted promotions that have NOTHING to do with selling of clothes/perfume/shoes/housewares/undies/socks/water/godiva chocolate/cappacino makers and get back to business.
this is why the stock is always in the toilet, where this promotion is going to end up anyway.

OMG, I will not ask a customer to give me money to hug a tree. I am sure they donate to whatever causes they want on their own anyway! Who comes up with this stuff. If they think it is giving them good publicity, they are WRONG! I did notice Shop for a Cause is coming up again soon too!

We all have goals for this Parks promo: Full timers have to open 16 in within 4wks and part timers have to open 8. There is no end to badgering the customer about charity and now they are adding the environment to the list. So why don't they go back to using paper bags for purchases which would actually make a diffference for the environment??

Yes I was telling an another associate that macys is to stupid. Why have this promotion on april 26 & 27 while we already have sh*t loads of coupon out already. We have coupons that expires on April 30. and we have some that is good from April 20 - may 8. They should have this promotion after may 8 and don't mail coupons to no body. I never saw a place that gives it customers so many coupon. In target you have to spend $1000 than they will mail you a 10% coupon which is stupid. I just spend $1000, what else is their to buy.

I could find PLENTY to buy beyond $1000.00 in Target, but Macy's has nothing that I want. Sad, when I should be taking advantage of my "generous" employee discount.

i can't believe i am saying this, but i totally agree with you, MONEY. but i'm sure come may 1st, there will be more coupons in the mail. and you are absolutely right that it WILL interfere with opening credits. i remember when i opened a credit a few months ago, THEN i asked if she wanted to donate to something else and she glared at me. i was embarassed. i said, " i know, how many other things am i gonna ask you for?" and we both had a little chuckle about it and i wished her a nice day. give the woman a break. she just opened a credit card with us, let's not bust her chops !! Embarassed seriously, MACY*S, which is more important? opening a credit card for her or her donating $5.00 to save a tree and get the friggin coupons which she is ALREADY pissed about cuz there are so many exclusions on them?

aaaacccckkkkk !!! i 'm on a roll !! norma rae is back in town. and it ain't gonna be pretty.

and don't EVEN tell me the "thanks for ripping me off" campaign is coming up again. i'm feeling the need to throw up very soon. i can't handle it !!!!!!!!!!!!!! the constant badgering of customers !! no wonder the customers are staying away in droves.

oh, and as for the goals for us opening all these idiotic promos? on my review last year, since i am above the cap as many of us are, i got a bonus. if i get the SAME bonus, that is NOT a raise. a true raise would be a bigger bonus than last year. if i get the same or gawd forbid a smaller one? i am not even gonna bother with asking customers to open ANY of them. why should i ? what's the point ? no incentive. they can't fire me for not opening those.

ok, i gotta stop. i literally can feel my blood pressure rising. thanks for listening to another rant by norma rae . Evil or Very Mad

yes...it is like a mini shop for a cause.

ok...so we are trying to go green everywhere and save the planet, that is fine, BUT gove the customer some incentive. those coupons are horrible. there are too many exclusions!!! why not a little more incentive, to get the customer to buy the coupon and get them in the door.

oh yes, i believe there is a bag to be given out to the first curomers that enter the store. i forget how many bags they are giving wach store.

the stores are doing horribly. they need to do something. i think at may, we were the biggest customers. the fact the we had a 25% discount and could use a coupon gave me more incentive to shop! i do not buy shop as much as i use to. many associates say the same thing!!

i've seen 20 % as well as 15%. i just look through them for the customer (cuz i feel like it, they don't ask me), and every 5th one is a 20% so far.
for the save a tree day it is april 26/27 for earth day. the first ?250? (not sure) customers in each store will receive a free cotton (burlapy type ) bag. we sell em in handbags already. they have a cute slogan on them. they say "use me over and over again. i'm used to it" it's very cute, actually, but i'm thinking that could be our associate slogan. those are by kenneth cole tho i think the giveaways are made by fossil . i haven't seen those yet.

style and co. is NOT doing well at all. gee, i wonder why? maybe cuz they're too young/hip? i like em, but not the customers.
as for shopping? yah, my purchases are waaaaay down. what's the point?

MLBeast, I totally agree that WE were Mayco's best customers! Macy's made alot of former May associates mad when they took our 25% discount away. It's just the principle of the matter, they should have let us keep our discount. And not being able to use coupons has really cut down on associate purchases as well.

Normarae, I'm young, and I hate style&co! It sucks. Too much polyester, too many wild, tacky prints, and it all looks the same.

Our store is doing HORRIBLE.

Yes, although we don't sell maternity clothing, you can always suggest Style&Co to anyone looking for the maternity section!
I'm not really sure who Style&Co is made for. In the ladies department, the cutomers do not like it b/c they think it looks cheap, and in the Women's department, the customers think it looks too young and that it's made for younger people.

Why would u promote Style and Co?

Why not Hillfiger or Ralph Lauren? Thats what I look for when I am shopping. It also makes your sales numbers higher.

i cannot believe this most recent promotion. First of all we are a company that does not recycle ANYTHING. Not in the break room, not at the registers and certainly ot in the office. We throw away more signs in a day to float a battleship. They throw out hangers and plastic bags left and right and they don't recycle the used boxes that customers return. The electricity the store uses is outragous and in my store it's on from very early in the morning. I did sell these as best I could but many people didn't believe the money was really going where I said it was going. Also friends and family is coming up just a few days later and it has noo exclusions. I don't think we'll sell many of these coupons until the day of the sale to anyone who doesn't have a coupon already.
