Help, Please!
I am looking for information, ie. best practices of efficeint price teams. We have an opportunity to improve the efficency of our team, and have not yet found the solution.
a. How is your price team scheduled? All work same shift or
some open/some close?
b. How do they implement the p4/p5's?
c. Are p4/p5's completed on time
d. When do they do their ad signing? Night before ad
or morning of ad?
e. How is the workload organized?

I realize that some of these questions may be redundant, but we are searching for details in how to improve our team. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I am the pricing team leader at my store and we do the absolute best we can to do our job accurately but it is difficult when the company does not send you all the signs you need in your sign package, make emergency price beak changes on a daily bases, and neglect to correctly load the price breaks for items featured in the ad, especially BOGOs.

There are 4 of us on our team, and we all work the same shift - 6-6:30am to 1:30-2:00pm - and we take 30 min lunches. If the store opens at 7:00 am we come in at 5:00 am.

We try to do the P4s and P5s early in the week when there is not as much signing to do. We can usually get them done in most areas - except Women's - by the Friday due date. However, when the download is especially large, we do receive some help from the SCSS's and the Women's merchandiser, as well as a few associates on the sales floor. We do get behind on them at times, and when that happens, we just try to catch up on them the next week.

We sign the morning of the ad, and in most cases have the store signed by store opening, except on Sundays, when we have less time to sign the store because the managers don't come in as early. We always have a list of signs we have to make, especially menu signs for tables, racks that have a variety of junk on them that didn't fit anywhere else. We try to catch these things when we stage for the sale, but when they create new stackouts and put out and move merchandise constantly, without telling us, they just get done when they get done.

The workload is divided as follows:
One person for home, one for mens, one for womens, and one for childrens. We divide us women's accessories between the four of us. Womens accessories is often neglected because we concentrate on our primary area first, and get to it after we've done our work there.

I wish I could come up with a way for us to do our job more efficiently. Our replenshiment team makes it hard for us because they don't notify us when they put out new stock and they don't bother to scan the items when they put them out to see if they are on sale and often stick them just wherever they can find the room.
