They basically start people at that wage?! Sorta shows you how long I've been in the business (my wage is in the lower double digits.) Actually, I had the chance to see some of the wages people in my job make, and many of the support associates were only making $8.00 an hour or so for retrieving shoes from picklists and being treated like dirt by ghetto salespeople (and apparently some of the managers have too much trust in me to allow me to see such information.)
As for discount, I think I have made a decision. To anyone who does not know what happened, allow me to explain. My account was closed due to owing forty dollars for a few months. It was closed with no explanation. I emailed credit services, and they told me to call credit services. I called credit services, and they told me to go to human resources. I applied for a prepaid card at human resources twice, and no response. I contacted the HR manager for Center Core, and no response. My manager contacted the HR manager, and no response. Interestingly, I'm supposed to receive an extra 10% discount for Star Academy, and I have no discount to begin with. I guess it's time to shop at Lord & Taylor. |
did you pay the $40.00 you owed?? if you did, you just need to reapply and they should issue a prepay account. your hr manager, office manager or hra could email somebody to find out why and get an explanation. it is not that hard.
i have just called credit and had things resolved. i think i had metioned once that i did not get my discount at bloomingdales and was told to go to hr. i explained to the person in the phone my position and was given a supervisor. thus, i got my full federated discount.

It has already been paid off as of January. I applied for a prepaid twice since then. The only thing I can think of is that the HR receptionist is a snob, and the HR manager we have is just as bad. I thought of either flooding the office with prepaid applications until they get the point, or consider giving my paycheck to other stores in the area.
BTW, about the HR receptionist being a snob, a veteran associate had asked her for a home early pass. The receptionist said we do not have any, and do not use any. The veteran associate requested to speak with someone who has been there longer, and he pointed out the passes to her, and explained what they were for (veteran associates who are feeling sick can fill out the pass after working four hours and receive full day's pay.) The passes were in plain sight of her.

For associates to be able to use the home early pass, they have to had been in the company for at least 20-25 years. At least in Herald Square. To me, a veteran associate is any associate who has been in the company well during the RH Macy era--as in when the company used to actually be good. From what I was told, if a person felt sick, they would be sent to the medical department and was attended to. If they left, they would get paid for the full day if at least four hours were worked.

i never heard of this pass either. i wonder if it is only in the union stores.
well the hr administrator should not be looking dow at you. it is not up to them. i am trying to think who you can talk to about this situation. i can not believe that they will not issue a prepay account.
we had a gsm, when we transitioned who was unable to get an account because she owed macy's too much money. she paid it off and was finally issued a prepay card.
have you spoken to your store manager???

It seems to me, that because you must use your card to take advantage of your employee discount, they would have to give you a card, or a pre-paid card, no matter what.

That card gives a discount! Why would they want to give one?

Or, according to one of the HR higher ups, one can be turned down for a prepaid if their credit history is shot.
Concerning HR, there's been some issues with them. One time, my manager requested a wage increase. The store manager approved, but HR didn't. My manager had to yell at HR for them to put it in.

How can anyone be turned down for a PRE-PAID account? They give them to 18 year-olds!

Thats what it is isn't it? A sophisticated gift card.
My ex-fiance worked at Dillard's. Somewhere I have a pre-paid Dillard's card that would have given me her spousal discount.

Since we were engaged they allowed her to get a card in my name. I got her discount the same way she got hers. I never used it though. I always had her buy my stuff. Then we broke up. She had an affair with someone that worked there. They married less than a year after we broke up.

No she was the one before. Not the last one. Though I don't care if I ever see either of them again.

Yes. She was insane. I later put all the pieces of the puzzle together about her. She was BiPolar and did not want to admit it. She never would talk about it. However I finally figured it out.
Today she is a French Teacher. She is having an affair supposedly with the principal of the school she works at.

Pretty Much.
I am not trying to make fun of Bi-Polar Disorder. However she wouldn't take her medicine, she didn't want to be dependent. So she was generally insane!
