We had a problem a couple of years ago with guys from Nigeria calling with stolen credit card numbers and using the operator for deaf people. They were buying multiple expensive items like 10 DVD players. We got on to the scam and informed the authorities and shut them down. We weren't the only store they tried. Maybe that's one reason why Macy's doesn't like 3rd party charges over the phone.

At Lowe's it was prohibited. No exceptions - unless you complained that is. Then we would also take your Macy's Card!

It's the first I have heard of it. It was never a policy in the North.

This has always been the policy in my store, although it was not always adheared to with Mayco.

I had this wonderful customer that would call every Christmas and ask for me. He would purchase all of our Chanel sets over the phone with an American Express. Oh how I loved doing business with him!
Well, one Christmas, he decided that he should not be paying tax, so I asked my SM, who immediately ended our business relationship.
I miss that customer.

And THAT is how I learned that we are not suppossed to take bank cards over the phone!

As long as there are no charge backs then it shouldn't matter! Though I can understand not working on that sale under the condition that it is Chanel merchandise. However it depends on what the sale amount is before I can see discounting it. Even Chanel would discount at a certain amount. Even at that, compromise and take 5% off the total sale price!

A sale is a sale!

Speaking of Chanel I am short on my Chanel cologne. I need to buy another bottle soon.

You actually are not supposed to take an Amex card over the phone. It is some sort of law, but we did it anyway. A sale was a sale.

I know....he must have really loved his mom...

I think he was going around and buying up all of the Christmas sets, and then selling them for a profit.

Yes, I like Chance too. The Chanel rep. gave me a bottle of Chance and Coco Mademoiselle. The original Coco I don't like so much, but the Coco Mademoiselle is really good.

Gave? I need to make friends with the Chanel rep!

I love the new Prada cologne for men. It's expensive as the day is long but so worth it. I have had the bottle over a year now and only used half of it. I love the smell. I bought it at Bloomingdale's and had to finance it! 2 whole payments of 39.99!
