I haven't been around for a while but I read back posts and didn't see anyting written about this so I think it may just be our store. We now have our items per transaction goal on our daily walk sheets every morning. We are told to check our readings frequently to see how many IPT's we have and try to incease it. We are also told to sell our best and bring up your Average sale. I get all that but many many of our clients are cheap and don't want to buy anything until it's on sale. Open up instant credits HA HA! My last three instants didn't go through talk about the clientel. MAcys needs to bring in customers who are willing to spend more to be up to date. We were talking the other day about many of the celebrities that used to shop in our store. Now can you imagine Mariah Carey going through our sales rack. Or Lucy Arnez picking things up off the floor. I work with a pretty good group of people but we aren't miracle workers. Well anyway now each week they add up points assigned to the % over your goal in each of the 4 categories (IPT, AS, SPH and customer loyalty) and if you reach 90 points you get a piece of paper congradulating you and $10 macy money. If you win for the month you get you get $25 macy money and for the year a paid day off. A friend of mine says it's like working on commission without the pay increase. What some of my coworkers would do for $10 macy money. We have contests all the time to learn all the new training techniques. It took me a week to learn IMPACT. I earned $5 MM for that one. Are all the stores doing these same things. It's driving me nuts. Let me know

Yes, Jenny, we have been experiencing the INTENSE management focus on the metrics "Scorecard" too. Between that and pressure generated to open credits we are all getting major headaches. So far they have not given us IPT goals. What is IMPACT? Have you seen the letter that some of the other stores have discussed? It seems to be addressing the Specialist goals but we have not seen it yet in our store.

This letter was just given to former Macy's North employees who are now part of Macy's East to explain the differences in North specialists and East specialists. I am really excited about being Macy's East because from everything that is expected out of a lowly sales associate, I am SURE the employees in East make at least $18 an hour!! Yeah, raises for all!

IMPACT is improved merchandise presentation and concept training.
We had to layer (with at least three items) each and every aisle fixture. Thats great of course when the customer comes to you with al three pieces and wants it all for one price the cheapest ticket of course. And then wants to use 2 coupons. We haven't gotten any papers about anything. But I hear more information from you guys than I ever get from them. Keep up the good info.

I hate that new score card. You are right it is like working in commission without the pay increase. Everybody is more compettive now, but customers love it. Everybody is trying to get to the customer first now. You actully need to make 85 points to get $10mm, not 90 points. I did make it one week, but all the other weeks I got about 80 points. Nobody is doing good on it. I think it is very stupid, and I think macys is stupid. Macys wants to much and have to high standards. I think it is an accuse not to give us a raise if we don't do so good. It is unfair to most people, and everybody hates that list. They say only OCA and part time associate are the only people on that list and it is true. Full timer work 35 hours a week. They work doing busy & slow times. Compare that to a OCA or part time associate who wroks less than 15 hours. They could work during busy times only and bring up thier SPH,IPT,AS, and Credit faster. I hope this all will be over soon. MLB any updates will be helpful.

We had those blasted reports at The Home Depot. I was a head cashier so I stayed off the register as much as I could or I ran on Self Check Out as much as I could so that I would never show up on the metrics report. Those reports were horrible and non-disclosable. So we could gripe at the cashiers for poor number reports but we could not tell them what or how they were bad.

And of course, trying to figure out how to merchandise shoes with this (which of course, I bend the rules a bit with it.)

I've seen those scorecards, and I feel the same way. It is a weird push to bring one to sell more, and of course, the incentive is funny money--I mean--Macy Money. Let us also not forget that the only way that support receives that stuff is either by ratting others, or sucking up.

POLLI YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

Mid Level Management has been added to the Endangered Species List. They need to be treated as comfy as they can so that they can continue their poisonous routine of initiating new policies that should be buried along with other great ideas such as requiring all Macy's Associates to have green hair.

someone ( a F/T) did mention that they told her - she's an INC specialist to boot- they told her that her IPT's were low. so if i sell 3 pair of socks mine is higher than her selling an $80 INC top !! that's what macy's wants? they are getting so frigging ridiculous !!
i'm sure that if you are NOT on probation (working less than 3 months) that you CAN'T be fired if your numbers are low....just like they can't fire you for not opening enough credits.
you are right tho, MONEY. that is their PERFECT excuse for not giving you a raise/bonus next spring.

oh, they're back on the kick now of 100% participation for opening credits. so this pain in the ass gsm TELLS me, NOT asks me that after i open 1 credit - which i did this week already- that i NEED to call a gsm so it can be given to another associate who doesn't have one. oh, i get................are you guys ready for this ? ..............wait for it..............here it comes.................AN EXTRA MACY MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG.....OMG....OMG...
um , i don't think so. so you guys can beat another store in the contest? who gives a shit??? i yessed her to death and when she walked away i said to myself ... NOT!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm thinking if i DO open one tomorrow or friday that i am not going to do it. why should i give my credit away? it's not the friggin money. (fake money, BTW). that goes toward my review...which is a laugh anyway.

I can't believe that they would ask you to do that! Don't do it. I know you won't, anyway.
The only time I give a credit away, is if I am working with a newbie, and I'm in an extra nice mood, and I want to help him/her get their first credit.
I'm with you, Normarae, fake money doesn't get you a raise!

Norma,
Yeah, if you sell the 3 prs. of socks your IPT is higher, but her SPH is probably much higher...and specialists need both!
I don't think they will hold any of these #s (except credit)against you, since they are not on your review...people seem to think they are for some reason, not true, unless you're a specialist and/or level 2.
I would never give another assoc. a credit...just say "I don't think so...I really need the MM"...why should you do their job for them?

I completely agree. SAY NO! It is not fair to put your credits on the line for another associate. In the end it will look bad at you.

frankone, the gsm said i would get an EXTRA macymoney for doing that. i said i understood and after she walked away said to myself...uh, i don't THINK so !!
i've got plenty of mm, but the more i thought about it, the more i really got mad !! she said if i got one to call her and she would give me the next associates name that was on the list. i saw the list...it had at least 25 names on it. then she tells me the name...it's a LOOOOONG TIME macy associate. now i really like the associate but then i'm thinking, she's MORE than capable of opening them..why should i do the work so she can get a good review/raise next year? i got a FRIGGING HEE AND DID NOT GET ANY INCREASE AT ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!! so i'm gonna do their work for them? um..not happening, kiddies.

that's it. i got really pissed / irritated at this. the next time the gsm tells me to do it, i'm going to tell her i'm not doing it. and i'll explain to her very nicely why i'm not doing it. what are they gonna do ? fire me ? HA !! try. just try. i'm just so SICK of all the bullshit they want us to do.

see? there goes the blood pressure again. and mine is always quite low, thank you. Rolling Eyes
