No OT on Sundays for us (I wish!), but we DO get OT if we work over 8 hrs in one day, IF we are grandfathered.

I'm glad that grandfathers get OT after 8 hours in my store, b/c if we didn't, they would be scheduling us for 12 hour shifts!

Same with us. Prior to our current union contract we use to get OT for working over 8 hrs/day. Now it's over 40 hrs/wk. Macy's reasoning was that some associates were working a few hrs OT the first 3 or 4 days of the week and calling out the fifth day since they had already accumulated the equivalent of 40 hrs with the OT. There is no Grandfather option for us.

Let me say this about target discount it was only 10 percent..but you could use coupons..But Target associates sure enjoyed Marshall Fields much better because it was a bigger discount..rofl.. Wink

Now that is bad..if someone would ruin it for others if they did this.. Doh!

be happy if you are a former may associate and receiving sick pay and overtime working over 8 hours. there are many former may stores that stopped sick pay this july and overtime last year. i guess it depends on the region.

macy's does offer a form of sick pay...short term disability, but you have to pay for it. when we were may, if you were there over ten years you were paid first day out. less than that, you had to provide a note by the third day.

vacation time is based on average hours worked. you can be coded 17.5 hours, but work 25 to 30 hours. if an
on call associate worked full time all year, they would not be eligible for benefits or paid time off. it all depends on how you are coded in the system. believe me, there are problems with not being coded correctly sometimes, so if there is a question you should ask!!

I remember the big sign at Target....

Employees receive: Merchandise Discount at Target & Mervyns, and a Generous discount at Marshall Fields.

Remember though, in this area no body knows what Mervyns or Marshall Fields are in this area.

MLBeast, are you saying that your vacation time is based on the actual hours that you work, or the hours that you are coded?

Did you not read the post by Maycylady saying it wasn't too long ago that all of us were going through cuts, changes etc?? We had much more than 400 cuts in my division alone. It has been 2 years since our takeover and many of us still expect the axe everyday. people in my store were getting pink slips last week! We are here to support each other, not criticize. Why don't you start a S&B forum?
