No bonus for you! (Soup Nazi voice) Commissions are set by the vendor. You will not be getting spiffs. If you are being made the team lead in the millwork department your job is to be the tasker. You do the majority of the grunt work and paperwork. The sales specialists are the ones who should be doing the selling. They are specialists for a reason, they know more about the product line. Don't get too excited, our millwork specialists received a monthly bonus and it was $6.00 for beating the budget.

I wouldn't be so rough like that. Near where I am new england doors tend to be smaller than those in the rest of the country and thus tend to be SOS
SOS is easy to calculate...spiffs not so much.
Definatly get certified for both and maybe some neighboring departments.

I'm pretty new so I may need some slack. Training at our new store seems to vary from little to none. In fact, getting the new HR woman to do ANYTHING is like pulling teeth and causes an instant attitude from this woman. The mere mention of training sends her into this "We only have sooooo many computers and they are always booked up" speech. But then, heaven forbid someone peak into the training room and there is always a few computers open. Seriously, how does one go about getting or demanding some training in his department, let alone ask for training in another? Heck, I would even go in on my own time but was already told that I MUST be own the clock during all training. I requested a new name tag 3 weeks ago. I reminded her for two solid weeks. On the third week, she told me that I had to submit the request in writing. I did that and asked her again a week later. Still not done. Today I reminded her of the last three weeks and the fact I requested in writing over a week ago. She got all jerky about it and made myself and a couple others name tags. Of course she made our names and positions sooooo small that the name tags look stupid. She gave nme the "I hope you stop bothering me now" look as she tossed them at us.

It takes two seconds to make a name tag...
as for training here's a little tiny thing....
you can probably access the training from the computers on the floor. Now technically you aren't "supposed" to do that but if your in lumber chances are that's away from the sm, zm and hr offices.
Plenty of training can be done on these and technically the policy states you are supposed to get one hour a week for training.
Also you can technically be on more than one terminal at a time...for some reason the system allows it.

For some reason I feel at odds with our HR person. Sooooo many people need sooooo many things. We are in the final days of setting up our store and have a small meeting each morning. This morning the store manager said the HR person had a few things to say. Many of us thought that she was going to address a few issues that many of us have been bugging her about. Of course her few words were warnings against bringing in food into the training room, to many people in her office heats up the air and keeping noise down while we wait in line outside her office. I swear......I dont even get why she is even there.

It's a warehouse...it gets loud...she should get used to it. Don't expect someone in that position to last more than a few years at most. After 3.5 years in one store we were just getting our 3rd...
Just keep in mind that technically hr does have the power to fire people (as does the sm and the ops when the sm is out)
I'm not saying you suck up to her/him but I wouldn't tend to want to show a whole ton of anger. If the store is about to open I wouldn't worry about much.
