We were just told that employees no longer will receive the use your card discount! (at least in ME) Just another benefit being taken away. Funny, Macy's doesn't seem to realize that employees are their best customers.

It seems more and more that Macy's does not want our money! First, they took away coupons, THEN they forced us to wear all black, THEN they cut our discount, and now this? I think I'm going to start shopping at Nordstrom.

It varies by division, with apparently Macy's East being the strictest on coupon use. One thing I do agree on that it should be all or nothing. It is way too confusing for associates to remember which coupons they can and can't use.

Are they still doing the employee discount as a back of the house situation where YOU HAD TO use your Macy's card?

Yes, you must use your card to get a discount.
It seems to me, that if you can't get the UYC discount, and we only get 20% now, instead of the 25% that we used to get, we would get better deals by not working at Macy's. It's pretty bad when the customers save more than the employees. Can someone remind me why we are working at Macy's?

Oh yeah, Give Back, as in you donate and we take the credit. Or as in Shop for a Cause, you pay us to give you a discount that we would have given you anyway and we take the tax deduction!

You got it!
Or as in...we pay you, then you "give back" your paycheck to us by buying our stuff, and we cut all of your discounts, so that you pay the same price as non-employees.

i have not asked ANYONE to buy a "shop for a ripoff" coupon yet. and i probably won't if not forced to. a sign at the door said they are ASKING all employees to sell 10 . i think the keyword is asking, not telling us .

the customers get pissed when they see all the usual exclusions. they say, "i can 't use them for what i'm buying anyway, why bother?" and i wholeheartedly agree.

Macy's coupons are better than MayCo's.. Mayco's had horrible exclusions, though Macy's is getting worse about them.

The customer is getting smarter, they ask what the exclusions are BEFORE they buy the shop for a rip off card!! Plus we seem to do one of these rip off schemes every month now! We have to sell 10 in our store too. I haven't done one yet and don't plan to.

i was up in kid's one day for an hour and a lady said "oh, i'll take one of those too". (the RIF thingee). ya know, reading is fundamental.....do we have enough "schemes" going on? we hardly can keep the customers in the store now, we should drive them away with crap every time they want to buy a pair of socks?

Oh, yes, Ma'am. the socks are $6.24 with tax. before i let you go.....
1. would you like to put that on your macy's account?
2. can i look up your account for you?
3. would you like to open a star rewards account to save 20%?
4. why not?
5. then would you like to donate to the Reading is fundamental
fund?
6. No? why not?
7. would you like to donate to the Shop for a RIpoff Cause event?
8. how about are upcoming friends and family discount. would you like me to take your name for that?
9. why not?
10. then how about the later upcoming Thanks for Bothering Me campaign?
11. No? why not?
12. can i ask you one more favor before you run out of here?
13. would you mind terribly while you're home -taking care of unimportant things for yourself- could you please, pleeeeese go to our website Macy's.com and take about 20 minutes of your valuable time to fill out the huge e-mail, address crap and tell them i was OUTSTANDING IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE? that would really really help with my review next april where i really won't get any increase in pay at all, but they'll at least get off my case about the circle and sign crap?
14. would you? huh? oh , great. i really do appreaciate it.
15. what? oh, shit. the socks. i forgot all about putting them in your bag. i got so caught up asking you all the required stuff i had to so the managers won't yell at me.
16. thank you so much, ma'am and have a fabulous day !!!!!!!

Of course there was another question if she DID use her charge card. the register would have made me asked her for her license for I.D. sigh.

Normarae, that is toooo funny. My favorite is the Thanks for Bothering Me campaign!!! Like when they bother me to make a payment on their charge when there are 30 people standing in line or you are miles away from the nearest register.

One blessing is that Macy's isn't hooked up with "Jerry's Kids", like some grocery and drug stores. I think we should petition Terry to do something for Jerry. Can't you feel the love?

Macy's need to support the starving educators. Lady and I would be fantastic candidates for an award.

That would be unlikely, because You Never Count at Macy's--correction, Federated using the Macy's name. Had it been the real RH Macy's (pre-Federated,) certain stores would probably still have the full sized cafeteria with real, hot food. The medical department would have still been around. Above all, we would have had managers who are actually professional and would not be condescending toward their workers.

Funny how the title of "Manager" can make some people feel superior.
