Just checked out the fashion books for the east division. The cover for women's reminds me of Target with all the red and white. Oddly, for a company celebrating such an anniversary, one would think they would do something big about the history of the company. Apparently, they didn't.
Coming to Macy's is INC footwear, and INC week is coming soon. Are you excited (not)? I found out yesterday that the company that is making the INC shoes is Camuto group, which does BCBG shoes. Interestingly, for a line with a similar price point, they look like cheap crap. I already knew that Jimlar (Coach, Frye) make the Alfani stuff. More cheap crap. I wonder who is making Style & Co shoes. Whoever is making them seems to be making Payless look like couture merchandise.

Funny you should mention the shoe vendors. Yesterday I had a customer tell me how horrible our shoes are now!

it's supposed to be great hair products, right? i read about it on soap opera digest...one soap (one life to live or days, maybe) uses it on their actors in the hairstyle room.

I'm still debating about Kiehl's since regular lotions and shaving cream pretty much do the same thing at a much lower cost.

Thats what I thought about Clinique for Men, I am not allergic to it, and my complexion has almost completely cleared up from using their mens line.
The lady at Macy's though saved me a bundle on Clinique when she mentioned that the mens and women are the same things, they are just labeled differently. I buy the women type and then just refill my bottles. It saves quite a bit. Course it isn't as expensive in the long run as you might think, because the products last longer.

Someone I work with swears by Clinique. Said it is the only thing that cleared up her acne.

I was breaking out really bad, and had a rash that occurred every time I shaved so I tried Clinique, and it worked. My complexion cleared up completely, the rash quit, and didn't cut myself as many times I had before.
Clinique products for the most part are under $20, most expensive is usually under $40 - even their colognes and perfumes are under $50. They last a really long time, and I swear by them. I won't use anything else after trying Clinique. I highly advise people to try it.
Clinique.com is also wonderful incase you can't get to the store. I have never received shipments before that came packed so nicely and were delivered as described on time and even included extras. My ex girl friend loved all the free samples!
Forget Milk, Clinique, does a body good!

Clinique makes Neutrogena, which is exactly the same line, except sold in the drugstore for much less.
Remember, I'm a cosmetics girl, so you can understand my disbelief when I found out that the brands sold in the store are no different than the ones in the drugstore. You are paying for the "customer service" which you don't get in a drugstore.
It's true.

Seriously, I have spent tons of money on cosmetics at macy's/mayco before my dermatologist enlightened me to the facts!

The latest in the 150th anniversary: this week is Tommy Hilfiger week. Tommy himself was supposed to have walked the areas that sell the merchandise with his name on it. I heard he skipped women's shoes. I guess we are the unloved ones. Another fun thing is that they have shoes displayed on the windows that we don't even carry. Sure they are Tommy, but they are for the retail boutiques and go for a lot more money than what is sold in Macy's. Hopefully, customers won't come asking about the shoes. I know I nearly did that when I saw Tommy men's on the windows.

They are always advertising stuff that we don't have. I don't get it. They can't sell what we DO have, so why make people want what we DON'T have? Customers are always yelling at me because something was in the flyer but they can't get it at our store.

We had that problem all the time. It was because we had a smaller store. I had a list of excuses to tell customers, such as the ads are made up 6 months in advance, and we can't predict what we might have in stock. Or, we can't have enough for everyone. Or, we can't predict how popular something might be. Or, these ads are for big stores too, and we are a smaller store. But, my favorite was: if you want this, you can get it at macys.com.

Plus, why tell a customer to go to macys.com. Don't stores have enough competition from all the people shopping online now. I think our business is bad enough!
I just did some power shopping in a big city mall (not the one I work in)and went in:
Nordstrom's where the merch looked fabulous, the store was very neat and organized, the employees were very friendly and dressed fashionably.
Lord & Taylor where the merch was great(not as fashion forward as Nordstroms) and neat, employees very helpful.
Kohl's where the store was a mess, only decent merch was the Vera Wang and no employees spoke to me (but I wasn't expecting them to)
And last and of course least MACY'S where the store was a total disaster, the merch was dog ugly,I couldn't tell the difference between Macy's and Kohls, the employees looked horrible in their mourning outfits, and of course because of our wonderful customer service, NOT ONE EMPLOYEE SPOKE TO ME. Not even a "hello". Way to go Macy's.

Kohl's seems to be advertising more than Macy's these days. Maybe junk sells.

I LOVE Nordstrom's! They always treat you well, no matter what you are buying. And even though the prices are higher, I don't mind b/c they give such great customer service. Macy's could learn a thing or two from Nordstrom's.

Macy's claims they are all about customer service. But they aren't. All they care about is credit or loyalty or whatever they are calling it this month. Not one person in Nordstom's asked me about opening a charge! Or donating to some charity!

I get SOoooo tired of Macy's going on and on about customer service, when if they really cared about customer service, they would start with having enough associates on the floor.
I never have to look around for a sales person at Nordstroms.
