It was announced last week that two more U.S. companies would move their operations to other countries. Levi's the blue jeans we've all known will no longer be made in this country, Maytag that we sell in our stores, will no longer be made in this country, the list gets longer every week. These companies don't want to pay American workers to make their products, but they want to get them made for cheap labor and send them back to this country to sell for high prices. Whats everyones opinion on this?

Sad This is one of the cancers that is killing america. How ruthless do you have to be as a company, to layoff workers and expect them to be happy as a lark and to promote your product? Ten years ago, news articles portrayed the third world countries as hopeless quagmires of unemployed masses. We, as a country, are headed there on the fast track! The only ones to profit from this type of insanity are the corporate gluttons and the power drunk special interest groups. As we lay off thousands monthly, the current administration has the audacity to say that the economy is on the rebound. I wonder where these Enron educated mathematical idiots get their numbers from? Maybe we should hire our corporate leaders from the third world, I know they would work for a hell of a lot less than what bobby tillman is getting!!!!

Wouldn't it be the right thing if our corporate leaders would tell these companies if they want to leave this country, we want sell their products, I guess we know that want happen don't we. I guess it's up to us to look for American made (if we can find any) , check on you're store shelves and see what you can find that's truly made in America. Does anyone know a brand of blue jeans that are still made in America, I'm looking, let me know.

C man I heard about that , I think that we all should boycott Levi's , that's the only jeans I wear. I guess I'll get out my bibbed overalls and start wearing them. And I can't believe Lowes is selling foreign crap too, I don't think America cares about America anymore . We the people of this nation are putting our own self out of work. I took my boy to the store last week to buy arrows for his bow and I saw where they were made and told him to put them back. And then I found some made in the USA and bought a handful for him. It's time that we take care of the country that feeds us instead of another countries economy. I always look at the tag before I buy, and I feel better about the AMERICAN that made it.Cabinet man you might want to try a pair of overalls ,youll never know. GOD BLESS AMERICA AMERICA BLESS GOD

The worst example I remember is an American flag we carried last year marked, "Made in China". I kid you not! I musn't have been the only one to raise hell about that one, because I haven't seen it since. Can you imagine?

To anyone else out there who might be interested in giving up their Levis. Carhartt makes great work jeans, they are out of Dearborn, Michagan. They are made tough, most of them are designed to be work pants, so they have nice pockets. And they have a selection of colors. I haven't checked, but I am sure they have a website if stores in your area don't carry them.

Although Carhartt is still an American-based business, in the past 10 years they as well have closed down shops in the states to go to mexico. My father was laid off in 1993, after being at Carhartt for over 15 years, because they decided their little Kentucky workers were costing them more than our neighbors down south. Even with that, they are a great company that actually DOES put back into the communities that they are located in. Their website is http://www.carhartt.com.

At the rate we are going we will all be wearing sarongs and sombreros. The great melting pot continues to become diluted to the point that english is fast becoming a secondary language! I do not mean to sound bigoted, but my grandfather had to learn English to become a citizen of this country. He took great pride in buying American and befriending all nationalities, as do I. There is that point though, at which we must ask ourselves, does this make sense? Our governments, state and national, are being sued by illegal aliens because we do not pander to their wants. They pay no taxes, strain our welfare system, overload the medical providers and do not want or even wish to learn the language. We send all of our jobs across the borders, yet the masses still flee to US. I guess I don't have any answers, just questions!
