I was asked to transfer to another store because I do a good Job at my store. The store is not doing well and they could use my help. I told them I did not want to because I am payed comission on sales, and the store has no customers. MY DM said ok, but told my boss I was going there to help anyway. I allways have received MITT pay for helping at other units. My Dm told me no this time, its my hourly plus comission. I now have to drive 4 times farther to work and he does not want to pay me mileage either. MY HR persons says I should get mitt pay pluss mileage but the DM is saying no. He is acting like he has to pay it from his own pocket. How can I stop them from making me go there. It is in a really bad part of town. My manager just does what the dm tells him and does not seem to want to goto bat for me telling him I can't go.

Unless you're a lead or management I don't think they can force you. Call 88sears. Let us know what happens.
Good Luck

They cannot force you to go, and if they say you have to go then it is Mitt plus mileage. Call 88sears because you have rights as a comm sales person.

Make sure that they didn't actually do a force transfer rather than 'loan' you out.The verbage might be 'help them out' but administratively it might be a forced transfer.
Even on your taxes you can deduct the milage to work locations that aren't your normal reporting location.
Remember what is right, ethical and legal are all different things at Sears. Our store always likes to fight milage claims after the fact by demanding you have maximum insurance coverage on your car even though you only need legal minimum coverage.

Unless you are salaried management they cannot force you to go. Even an hourly lead cannot be forced. Salaried management has employment contracts and they used to have stipulations along those lines. But even they are paid mileage. My d.m. wanted our hourly loss control to rent a truck to do a transfer on his credit card and volunteer his time to drive down a transfer that was an hour and half a way. He knew it was wrong and against the labor law. It would also be his auto insurance and credit card on the line. This dm has continuously done many unethical things and just keeps collecting a check. We lost the decent managers and have been watching a steep decline in what they call management. They had even been not paying training for new hires. ( come in an fill out paper work and all that stuff for about 4 hours each) That has been going on for about 2 years. And 88Sears knows about it. Sooner or later someone will try to collect and go outside the company. We are all hoping for a major audit to expose alot of this crap. After watching what has been happening with the executives on wall street it seems like they are related to some of these executives.

Ok well everyone I am still figting this battle. I have told my department manager I do not want to go anymore. I told My DM I do not want to go anymore. Yet they still ignore me and schedule me over there. Its is getting into the busy season, and I make a killing at my store on the hollidays. Now I am forced to goto slow store and make less money. My last paycheck was $200 less then I normaly take home. But because I do such a great job they tell me. They need me there. What do I do now?

Turn in mileage, If you are not assigned to that store as an employee then you are entitled to it.

Try your states Wage and Hour division of the government. They will know. First call 88sears and ask them; SO there will be no retribution towards you!

Typical Sears management thinking -
Great employee who does as told
So let's crap on them and crap on them and
then crap on them again and see how much work we
can get out of them for paying them less.
Maybe you should have been a bad employee - then
you would have been treated better.

Thank you. I thought it was just me. Model employee, call in on days off, use you; abuse you and smile in your face! Whew what a load off my doctor's and my mind!

I am not sure what the deal is. I cannot understand what is going on. I am a top performer. I think the problem is no one has sat down with me and talked to me about this. They all are hiding behind someone else.

They have figured out you are a nice guy they can walk on, bully and abuse.
It isn't about you - it is about them.
It will get worse if you let it.
They are accustomed to you saying yes - they really won't like it when you say no.
Are you getting paid for all this extra travel time?
Wear and tear on your car?
Time to look for another job - and this time you have to learn to say no.

Store level managers must be reaching new levels of stupidity if they are willing to loan out top performers to other stores....

I told them NO and the took me off the schedule and put me on the schedule over there. I am starting to wonder. I told my department manager he told me to talk to the DM. I told the dm I did not want to go. He told me I was the only one he could trust and ignored the fact I did not want to go. I told the HR person she said call ethics. I told the operations manager, he said speek to the store manager before calling ethics. If left word for the Store manager to call me and it never happened. So I may call ethics first. I stand to loose $600 this month if I stay at the store I am.

There is no reason to speak to the store manager before you call ethics. All he's going to do is attempt to browbeat you out of calling them. That kind of behavior is the problem you need to be calling ethics ABOUT.

So who replaced you at the old store?
Someones relative, boyfriend or girlfriend?
That is probably the answer right there.
Do you have seniority and make more money and they want you to quit?
Is your new store getting ready to close - so they are forcing you out?
By the way I am on your side - I know the game Sears plays.

Call Ethics NOW.....If nothing gets done keep talking to the higher ups up the chain of command.. DMs aren't shit anymore but watch your back as you may become a target. Sounds like you are the pivot man in a giant circle jerk. GFG

Funny you should say that. The assistan manager just hired his brother in law? are they alowed to do that? Also to behonest. I am about the only ethical person in my store. My boss gives his family free stuff, and does what some may consider stealing. He knows I know, and when I am gone he does things like take company trucks to get wood for projects for his house. Cleans the store out of all scrap metal and pockets the cash. I think after speaking to my dm it seems he pushed for me to go as help.

I think we work at the same store.
This company is a mess.
Do like I am doing and look for another job.
They will just keep pushing you and pushing you till you can't take it anymore.
First of all - if you do call ethics - they probably won't speak English anyway and even understand what you are talking about.
They are glad to be earning the 20 bucks a week or whatever Sears is paying them overseas.
They won't understand why you are complaining.
And if by some slim chance you win and either get to go back to the original store or get the money for gas/transportation - you now have a target on your back.
You know too much - they want to get rid of you.
Thank you for this thread - now I know I am not the only one in really really bad! Sears store!!
