Annual enrollment for your health insurance includes a Mandatory health risk assessment if you want the co-pay 500 health plan. The fact that this is mandatory should raise a red flag! What are they going to do with this information? How is this not against the Heppa law? Who are they going to share this information with?
These are obvious questions but no one seems to have any answers they wish to share. If they feel you are high risk either from genetics or life style will you be forced to have the plan that has higher co-pays and worse coverage? Will they demand a change in your life style to remain qualified? Does anyone know?

Having talked with HR about this, apparently Lowes has nothing to do with it, the health care system is making it mandatory, Lowes will receive no information on their employees from this at all.

Even if that was true it doesn’t tell us how the information will be used and if it is an infringement of our rights and privacy.

This won't pass legalities.
Lowes has to offer insurance. The plan can go up in price but they cannot outright deny you coverage.
remember there's also different health care plans for different states.

I was just wondering. Why does Lowes have to offer insurance? Is there a law mandating this?

Well in my state the health insurance is mandated. Employers unless they have a small number of employees have to offer a plan. If they don't they get fined. Now it doesn't have to be a good plan.
Other states mandate for full time work to have health insurance. Part time not so much.
Dental insurance isn't factored at all in this.
Every employer I've been at has offered health insurance. Even people I know in China can get health insurance from their employer.
If someone goes to school that's mandated because they can't have people getting sick and spreading it to others or dropping out due to injury etc. At school there's some nurses and some services on campus.
