I am getting tired of my boss at Lowe's. I've talked to the Home Depot store in my town but they are on a hiring freeze. Does anyone here know if Lowe's employees are even desired at Home Depot? Also I found this website on Home Depot and one other www.orangeapron.com are there any others where I can find information on switching over to Home Depot from Lowe's?

Just one boss is causing you to leave your job?
OK time out...
let's say you leave and get a job there.
How long realistically is it going to be before the benifits kick in?
If you plan an exit I'd consider doing the following
1) visit the doctor and dentist. You don't know when your new insurance will kick in
2) use up all of the vacation time you can (maybe a sick day but don't go overboard)
3) put in a two week notice...leave on good terms.

When you do get hired at Home Depot don't tell Lowe's!
You sign an agreement with Lowe's when you start working there that prohibits you from work with a direct competitor. They can and WILL fire you for it. I worked for Lowe's and left when a new Home Depot opened. The HD manager took me aside after I was hired and told me to keep my mouth shut till my last day of work with Lowe's. A friend of mine did the same thing - but he didn't keep his mouth shut and they escorted him to clean out his locker and leave! When it finally leaked out that I had been hired at HD the SM at Lowe's said some pretty odd things to me that about made me want to slug him!
Work out your 2 weeks notice and don't announce that you are leaving for HD.

There was no signed agreement when I worked at lowes...
you do know that you can legally request to have anything you signed from the company. If they don't comply then it can't exist.
it's not that big of a deal if someone leaves so what makes it so bad if they go to competition instead? When companies bid for people it drives wages up...its called demand
In all honesty I don't think it's that much of a serious change.

Several HD people at my store left and went to Lowes because they have more business. Like three times the business HD has in my town. They were here first, they have the customer base, the store is bigger and better organized, more product selection, etc. If you have a lot of time in with Lowes I'd think twice about leaving if I were you.

Heck if you can transfer to that store than what makes you think the management at your store won't be able to go as well?
Management changes. Often times it's just best to let them screw up or wait for them to transfer. SM's last maybe 2 years or so...other ones might rotate later in the year.
Remember only a sm, ops and hr can fire you. zm's can't...dm's can't either
