well i have finally made the move -after 10 years working at 4 different lowes stores i am quitting to go to work for home depot.. they are opening a new store here in my town ..
$3.00 more per hour --40 hour work week --every other weekend off --benifits are $80 less per month --
i will miss lowes and a lot of good people but i just coundnt take the lowes crap anymore ..i know chances are good its the same over there --but we just got another new manager a good ole boy shipped up from florida ,and i can tell already he doesnt have a clue about customer service ,he does know how to cut hours and kiss the dm's ass ...
i hope that some where some one takes notice of whats happening at lowes and fixes it before its to late ...
had to go ...

We lost a dam GOOD employee last week to depot. He also will be making $ 3.00 more a hour. They replaced him with some guy making 7 bucks an hour, he worked 3 days and never came back. People are NOT going to work the way we do at Lowes for that kind of pay. Around this area fast food starts out at around 8 bucks.
ps.. Let us know if it any better on the other side of the road!!

Yeah, I had to go, too. Shame, ain't it? I miss my coworkers, I miss a lot of my customers. But I don't miss the favoritism, the politics, the stupidity of making rules that were never enforced if they made sense, and enforcing the ones that didn't. I don't miss the abuse by idiot customers and esp. by GO. Regardless of what they think, we are human, and they are NOT GOD.

We must gather our rage. We must organize against the tyranny of retail management. What should we call our group? the International Retail Employees Union? The American Association of Retail Workers?
Only collectively can we enforce our rights as human beings. December 10th is International Human Rights Day. That includes workers rights. Although "the public sucks" according to George Carlin, try to find something creative to gain public attention to the abuse of workers.

me too i had to go, i will miss all my coworker. my store is going crazy(turnover). cuz of understaffing us.....1 associate in 1 dept and they letting them work hard...MOD telling you ..... like u have to finish stocking this merchandise blah blah.(how would u stock this merchandise if a lot of custumers are in your dept.... BS)
For Schedule they favored by majority .its freaking insane!
good hardworking people are leaving and they seem not to care. and i think Managers just care about the sales and the bonuses they will get. i rather go to homedepot make more money with the same strees level with better scheduling.
if lowes keep this up there would be a reckoning.

When HD started opening new stores around town our SM used to preach about how HD may offer you a little more money but Lowes beneifits would let you "retire rich". Do any of you remember the "Lowdown" that showed the beneifit packages from Lowes compared to HD and Walmart? It showed numbers for exactly what she was saying. That was 2 years ago. Last week I went to the HD website to check on what jobs might be available in my area. Well, guess what, HD now has the 15% discount on stock, a new 401K plan, and lower medical. The only difference now is that Lowes still offers associates a 10% discount. If you shop at HD you'll save that much anyways.
Oh I almost forgot, shorter store hours. The store near me is only open 7:00am to 9:00 pm. I could be home at 9:15pm instead of 11:45pm.
I went ahead and sent in my application. I just hope I can stay at Lowes until the end of thr fisical year and get my performane match bonus I fugure about $4k,
