I am wondering how this weekend's big super saturday will go, if it will be a really good weekend for the company. I don't think anyone thinks the doorbusters are drawing people in any more. But I do feel things will turn around though it's tough right now, very tough. Morale is very low, too, in our store. But we are a fantastic group of associates and are hanging in there. Thumbs Up

Not good, especially since a lot of the 'valued' employees called in 'sick' just to piss off the boss..

These"valued associates" should be ashamed for doing that!

Maybe they should stop understaffing on Saturdays. No one wants to work if they're expected to do the job of what would normally take three people...

What idiot schedules only one person from open until 1pm on a Super Saturday in the Jrs Dept?? I think JCP is asking for it when that happens.

you do have a valid point there! understaffing is definitely a problem.

The problem with this attitude is that it isn't "The Boss" that is hurt when this happens. It is your fellow associates.

No, not hurting 'fellow associates'. Actually my store has the departments so thinned out that if someone calls in sick (or is late) then a supervisor has to pitch in and actually work--and not hide in an office.

Its about time someone gets their butts out of their office and stop playing freecell.

It's true that the staffing is so thinned out that's it's almost impossible to replace someone who calls in. But in our store the SCSS's, or supervisors which are the same thing , work just as hard as anyone.
They are always on the floor working.

But I agree that when associates call in just to "hurt the boss" it's the other associates who are hurt. We had someone call in on Super Saturday last weekend and there was no one to replace her.

It is the same in our store. Even the SM can be found ringing up a customer if needed. It is rare to locate a Manager in their office. Smile

The new benefits program will hinder those who notoriously call out for the reason you stated. They will be the big losers if they waste their precious PTO.

Making Super Saturday seems to be a major concern for all. Doesn't look promising.
