It looks as if I may be the only hourly here, but here goes.
I found out today that hourlys are no longer guaranteed one weekend a month off. Its allegedly a new corporate policy. Our managers were told in their weekly meeting to pass the word that, "hourlys would no longer be guaranteed one weekend a month off. If an hourly wants a weekend off they have to submit a time off request." Straight from the store manager and confirmed by the PTC.
I haven't had the chance to see this new policy personally. The only copy so far is in the "operations manual" locked in the PTC's office. The managers were told by the SM "if anyone has a problem with it tell them to come me."
Lowes is becoming more and more like Home Depot everyday. I guess Tillman needed a way to have maximum coverage on the weekends without hiring more people. The added benifit is that maybe alot of the older, time not age, associates will quit so they can reach the 25% fulltime and 75% part time goal.
I can't say BOHICA on this one. They didn't even ask us to bend over for this one. I'm now willing to take another job at less pay just to get away from this place. And I'll NEVER shop at LOWES or Home Depot again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a new one to me. I'm not hourly but it wouldn't be right. What about the hourlies who have every weekend off, does it affect them also? If they do it to the hourlies you can expect it to be salaried next. With the new overtime laws soon to go into effect we can expect alot of changes in the months ahead. Alot of the hourlies will be put on salary, there will be no limit to their hours but they will only be paid for 40 hours.

It seems as though this was one of those local store tricks to make the employees think it was company wide, we've had several of those at our store, and thanks to message boards like this and talking to other employees on the internet we've been able to see that it's all little tricks & lies.
