hey all im new to the site Mr. Green
worked at rona for about 4 years now... its not quite what it used to be anymore Doh!

anyways on to the post!
my store has just decided that we will be removing everything in stock from the chep pallets that they are on on and replacing them with rona pallets

is this happening at all ronas or just mine?
i think we're starting to stretch too far for ways to save money...
u have to feel sorry for the guys in flooring and stuff too with all those heavy boxes of tiles and whatnot... just dumb in my opinion. whats the point of even using chep pallets if we just have to get rid of them right away...

a thought anyone?

From what I understand they have to pay a deposit on chep pallets, somewhere around $20 each IIRC. Not a very efficient money saver but a penny saved is a penny earned.

Sure but then rona has to suck up the costs created by distributing their own pallets to vendors. I would think that such a solution is far more expensive than simply contracting that aspect of the business to a third party.

What they should be doing is producing and distributing suitable pallets to stores. Flooring, like you mentioned, requires some pretty heavy duty shit if they're going to be expected to store large quantities of overstock. Those paper-thin and crumbly pallets that tiles generally come in on are useless and probably dangerous.

thats what the rona pallets are that i am talking about
theyre pretty well built

but dont u think its a waste of money for rona to pay its staff to take all the stock off chep pallets and then put it on rona pallets?

No, not if they've already paid a $20 deposit on them like Huffer suggested. Say there's 100 chep pallets being used, that's $2000 they could get back in their pockets.

Besides, what else is there to do right now?

OMG! Rats are everywhere! Shocked

Not only rats, but rat shit is all over the racking and tables. It's really gross. I'd rather re-load pallets any day, than clean up dead rats.

Hey Dreadful, a great way to work out your muscles is to lift heavy cups of coffee...and carry them into the store...and bring them to people....(grande....extra cinnamon. Wink )
