I have got this from a very reliable source in Maryland. Home Depot has bought 10 acres of land located just off of Interstate 68 outside of Cumberland Md to build a new store. HD has been trying to get land up there for some time now. Now they have it. The nearest HD to Cumberland Md is in Hagerstown Md, which is 65 miles away. Does anyone know anymore on this? How will this effect the present Lowes store already located up there? I am not from that area but do have friends up that way. Surprised

In the store closings post and news reference the article says HD will proceed with opening about 50 new stores over the next year or so.It also says it will stop plans to open about 50 new stores and some of those have been in the works for 10 years.
