I used to laugh my butt off when Stewart would skewer some pompous assed government official or totally screwed policy and all any of the ultra right wing posters could come up with was, "Jon Stewart is a LIBERAL!" as if that alone was supposed to automatically negate any point he was making.

Jon Stewart is certainly a liberal, and makes no bones about it. Good for him.
However, he's first and foremost a satirist and he's very good at it. He's also even handed in his abuse... politicians of all stripes take the heat and I personally try to watch every show. |

My sentiments exactly. He, Colbert and Lewis Black are the three best politcal comedians/satirists out there today. Stewart's go round with Tucker Carlson will forever be a classic in my book. |

Go ahead and thanks. I've never heard him refer to himself as anything really... liberal or otherwise so I've never figured out where these people get this information they just pop out there.
There's a tendency to call anyone who disagrees with or makes fun of any of the Neo-Republicans or the off the wall stuff some of them come up with a "liberal" like it's some kind of epithet but I've never known Stewart to limit his jibes to just the Republicans. |

Apparently. he makes SOME bones about it. His philosophy seems pretty much like my own, except much funnier and less angry, according to this statement when being interviewed by Bill Moyers.
"The NEW YORK TIMES declared that when Jon Stewart took over as anchor of Comedy Central's THE DAILY SHOW, he "breathed new life into a show that hadn't even seemed to need it." In 2003, Stewart said of his role hosting the show, "Liberal and conservative have lost their meaning in America. I represent the distracted center." |
